CHENEY, Wash. — It's homecoming week for Eastern Washington University, and athletics has teams at home and on the road. Football hosts Northern Colorado for the conclusion of homecoming week on Saturday. Men's and women's golf are on the road to start the week with tournaments, with women completing their fall schedule. Women's volleyball plays a home match on Tuesday and then a road match Thursday for a different weekly schedule. Soccer travels for two conference matches this week, with one on Thursday and the next one on Sunday. Women's tennis will be in Cali for the ITA Regionals to continue their fall schedule. Homecoming week will also feature Athletics inducting its 2026 Hall of Fame Class on Saturday, before the football game.
Football - vs. Northern Colorado (Saturday, Oct. 10 at 4 PM Pacific Time) - Get Tickets
Eastern Washington plays its third home game of the season on Saturday, hosting Northern Colorado. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. and is broadcast live on SWX and streamed on ESPN+. The game will also air live on 700 ESPN and the Varsity App with voices of the Eagles, Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen.
The Eagles played UC Davis under the lights on Saturday, with the game airing live on ESPN2. The Aggies outlasted EWU, 49-38, in an offensive-heavy matchup. After Eastern scored first, UC Davis jumped ahead 14-3 with two long touchdowns. EWU reeled the Aggies back to 14-12 in the second quarter after an impressive 34-yard touchdown catch-and-run from

Soren McKee field goal left the score 21-15 at halftime. The Aggies scored 25 points in the third quarter to separate from Eastern. The Eagles continued fighting, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was too much to overcome. The teams combined for 1230 yards of total offense, with Davis recording 629 and EWU finishing with 601.
Nate posted career-bests in yards (413), touchdown passes (3), completions (39), and attempts (58). He also rushed for 107 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Bell ranks second in the Big Sky with 1597 passing yards and sixth with 11 touchdown passes. His 319 rushing yards ranked 11th, and 7 rushing touchdowns are tied for third.
McKee made four field goals against the Aggies, giving him 40 for his Eastern career and breaking the all-time program record. He passed Jason Cromer, who had 39. The four field goals were also a career-best for McKee and tied for the second-most in a single game in Eastern history.
Jaylon Jenkins grabbed his third interception of the season against Davis, and now has eight total for his career. He finished with six solo tackles and is tied for second in the Big Sky for interceptions this season. As a team, Eastern has now intercepted a pass in 14 of its last 17 games and is tied for second in the conference with seven INTs. EWU ranks 9th in the FCS for season interceptions as well.
Women's Golf - at Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational (Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, All Day)Eastern competes in its final tournament of 2026, playing in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational today and tomorrow. The tournament is held in Lakewood, Wash., at the Tacoma Country Club and Golf Course. The lineup for the week is Esha Reddy, Berkeley Ledesma, Spencer Cerenzia, Ella Follen, and Tyla Greenwood, with Lexie Mahler competing as an independent. 17 teams are in the field at Pat Lesser Harbottle.
Last week, EWU was in Missoula at the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate, with the team shooting +17 collectively. Cerenzia improved each round, shooting a 70 on the final day and finishing third on the individual leaderboard. She shot 224 (+11) overall. Reddy also turned in a strong performance, shooting 227 (+15) and tying for seventh.
Men's Golf - at Oregon State Invitational (Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, All Day)
The Eagles take the course for their second tournament this fall, competing in the Oregon State Invitational, starting today and ending tomorrow. The Invite is held at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore. with 12 teams competing. Eastern lineup for the two-day tournament features Emilio Gil Leyva Llamas, Traejan
Andrews, Carson Krauss, Cal Anderson, and Eli McNelly, with Peter Oh playing as an individual.
EWU opened its 2026-27 season two weeks ago, hosting the CDA National Invite. The team placed eighth and shot 877 for the tournament. Gil Leyva tied for 17th on the individual leaderboard, shooting 219 (+3). He was named Big Sky Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Invite. Krauss and Andrews both tied for 29th at the tournament with solid rounds each day.
Soccer – at Northern Arizona (Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8:00 PM); at Northern Colorado (Sunday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 AM PST)
Eastern Washington women's soccer continues Big Sky play this week as the Eagles look to bounce back following a pair of home matches against Idaho State and Weber State.
Eastern opened the week by earning a point in a scoreless draw against Idaho State. Payton Hyde helped secure the clean sheet in goal, coming up with key saves to keep the Bengals off the board.
The Eagles closed the weekend with a 3-2 loss to Weber State after putting together a strong second-half comeback. Eastern entered halftime trailing 3-0 before Maya Bossenbrook cut into the deficit in the 48th minute, scoring off an assist from Reese Kincaid. Deanna Montero added a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to bring the Eagles within one.
Eastern continued to push for the equalizer over the closing minutes but could not complete the comeback. The Eagles will look to carry that second-half momentum into another week of conference competition.
Volleyball – vs Idaho (Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6:00 PM); at Northern Colorado (Thursday, Oct. 8 at 5:00 PM PST)
Eastern Washington volleyball continues its Big Sky schedule this week as the Eagles look to build off a competitive road swing through Montana.
Eastern split its two matches last week, earning a four-set victory over rival Montana before closing the trip against Montana State. The Eagles continue to see strong production from their offense as they move deeper into conference play.
Kalista Lukovich enters the week after being named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Lukovich totaled 40 kills and 31 digs across eight sets against Montana and Montana State, averaging 5.00 kills per set while recording double-doubles in both matches.
Against Montana, Lukovich delivered 22 kills and 21 digs to help Eastern secure a 3-1 rivalry victory. She followed with 18 kills, 10 digs and three total blocks against Montana State.
The senior has been a consistent presence for Eastern throughout the season and recently became the 12th Eagle in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills.
Aspyn Reed continues to provide another offensive option for the Eagles, while Eastern has received contributions throughout its lineup from Bria Carlisle, Sydney Gray and Judith Bolomboy.
Defensively, Elle Bruegman has anchored the back row, while Jailyn Davenport has helped direct the offense from the setter position. Eastern's presence at the net has also remained an important part of its identity, with Gray and Bolomboy among the Eagles' leading blockers.
Women's Tennis - ITA Northwest Regionals (Thursday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-13, All Day)
EWU travels down to Stanford, Calif. For the ITA Northwest Regionals this week and into next. The Eagles' roster will compete in singles and doubles brackets against regional opponents for five days.
Eastern played its second competition this fall this past weekend, playing at the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah. The tournament acted as the Big Sky Conference's qualifier for the fall NCAA tournaments. Olivia Marais and Zoe Pradel represented EWU, playing singles and doubles.
Marais and Pradel won the doubles consolation bracket, winning two matches along the way. Both juniors also picked up a singles win, with Pradel advancing to the quarterfinal rounds.
EWU Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony - (Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 AM Pacific Time) - Tickets
Eastern Washington athletics will induct its 22nd Hall of Fame Class on Saturday at the Pence Union Building's Nysether Community Room. The ceremony will follow brunch and will be held in conjunction with Eastern's Homecoming football game against Northern Colorado later that day. Doors open at 10:45, with brunch being served at 11:00 and the ceremony starting at 11:30.
The 2026 Class has six individual inductees and one team. Headlined by the 2004 Football team, the individual inductees include Steve Aggers, Jesse Chatman, Eric Kimble, Nancy Kuiper, Erik Meyer and Nancy Tugerman (Taucher).
