Eagle Soccer Hits the Road for Away Match at Washington State

The Eagles travel to Pullman, Wash., this Sunday to take on Pac-12 program

CHENEY, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University women's soccer team heads down to Pullman, Wash., to square-off against the Washington State Cougars this Sunday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. Pacific time. The last time the Eagles faced the Cougars they gained an early lead in the fourth minute following a penalty kick goal, but WSU responded with four goals to take the 4-1 decision.

Last week, the Eagles hosted Arkansas State to a 1-0 deficit but the relentless squad looks to bounce back against the Cougars this Sunday. The Red Wolves slotted an early goal to take advantage in the 11th minute, which forced Eastern Washington to chase the rest of the match.

Sunday's match against the Cougars will be broadcasted on WSU Live Stream and followed via the LIVE STATS.

A Look at the Eagles

The Eagles have an overall record of 0-2-0 after battling Gonzaga in their season opener and hosting Arkansas State for their home-opener.

EWU goalkeeper Kelsee Winston has recorded 16 saves and has started and played a full 90 in both matches for the Eagles, collecting 180 minutes of playing time.

Junior defender Jordyn King has also played and started every minute of both matches, collecting 180 minutes while junior defender Janae Lee and sophomore midfielder Madison Kem have collected 176 and 170 minutes, respectively.

Knowing Your Opponent

The Cougars are led by head coach Todd Shulenberger, who enters his seventh season at the helm. WSU is currently 0-0-1 after drawing with Arkansas State 1-1 in Pullman, Wash., back on Aug. 19.

Washington State ended the 2021 spring season with an overall record of 6-3-3 and 2-2-3 in the Pac-12 Conference, finishing with two double-overtime draws against Oregon (1-1) and Washington (0-0).  

The Eagles have yet to find victory over the Cougars as they have an all-time series record of 0-6 against WSU.

What's Next: The Eagles travel to Seattle, Wash., on Sept. 2 for a match against Seattle University at the Championship Field at 1 p.m. PT. The match will be live streamed on the WAC Digital Network and Live Stats will be available HERE.

On Sept. 5, the Eagles return home to face CSU Bakersfield at 11 a.m. PT. The match will be live streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on the EWUStats.com.
