Eagles Take A Road Trip to Play the Lumberjacks

Eastern Washington is in a good position for the postseason with four matches to play

Eastern Washington women's soccer heads into the home stretch of the season as they travel to play Northern Arizona on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.

Last Time Out
Eastern finished last week with two draws on the road. The Eagles had a 1-1 draw against Northern Colorado on Thursday and a 0-0 result on Sunday against Montana.

Maddie Morgan accounted for the Eagles' goal against the Bears, scoring only minutes after UNC had taken the lead. Kamryn Willoughby made 12 saves between the two matches, holding a .938 save percentage.

Scouting the Eagles
Eastern Washington is in the number two spot on the Big Sky table with a 2-0-2 conference record and 5-5-4 overall.

The Eagles are averaging 1.07 goals per match and 10.3 shots this season. Morgan and Madison Kem are tied for the team lead and are tied for sixth in the Big Sky with three goals each, while Morgan leads the team with 28 shots. Morgan is tied for the team lead with Corina Froehle with three assists. The two are tied for fourth in the Big Sky. Additionally, Morgan leads the team with nine points.

This season, nine different Eagles have a goal to their name.

Eastern is on top of the leaderboard in saves, averaging 6.43 a match, with 90 total this season. Willoughby has accounted for 64 saves this season, averaging 4.57 per match to rank second in the Big Sky. The true freshman has four shut outs, good for third in the conference.

Scouting the Lumberjacks
Northern Arizona is fifth on the Big Sky table, with a 1-1 conference record and 2-5-4 overall. NAU defeated Idaho State this past Sunday, 1-0, on the road. The Lumberjacks fell to Weber State in Ogden, 0-1. The NAU attack tops the conference, with 19 goals and 212 shots, 19.27 per match. Earlier this season, the Lumberjacks scored 11 goals against Ottawa.

Junior forward Dai Williams is the top scorer for NAU, collecting four goals this season and ranks third in the conference. Williams is second in the Big Sky with 2.73 shots per match, with 30 total. Junior forward Josie Novak is the top shooter in the conference, with 34 total shots and 3.09 per match.

Eastern holds a 9-14-2 record against Northern Arizona, with the Lumberjacks winning the latest match. The Eagles fell at home to NAU, 0-1, in early October of 2021.

Eastern Washington will return home to play its final two matches of the season next weekend. The Eagles will host Sacramento State on Friday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. The final match will be senior day for Eastern as they host Portland State on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
