Cross Country Schedule Finalized for the Fall 2022 Season

Eastern Washington University starts off the season on September 1 with a home meet

Fifth-year Eastern Washington University head cross country coach, Sam Read, has announced the 2022 Fall schedule today (Aug. 22). The Eagles open the year at home on Sept. 1 when they host the Clash of the Inland Northwest. Eastern then competes in five regular season meets before hosting the Big Sky Conference Championships for the first time since 2010.

EWU's cross country team comes back this new year with 23 returning runners, 12 on the women's side and 11 for the men, as well as six fresh new student-athletes ready to race.

The Eagles kick off the season with its first home meet. EWU hosts the Clash of the Inland Northwest on Sept. 1, along with the invited teams Gonzaga University, Montana State University, Lewis and Clark State College, Spokane Community Colleges, Whitman University, Whitworth University and Walla Walla University.

The following week on Sept. 9, the EWU cross country team will head to Spokane, Wash., for a meet hosted by Gonzaga University. With the next meet located in Columbia, Mo., the Eastern Eagles will run on Sept. 30 on the home ground of the University of Missouri Tigers.

EWU then returns to Washington for the John Paynes Invitational on Oct. 1, in Seattle. Just two weeks later, the Eagles travel to Estacada, Ore., hosted by Lewis and Clark. Finishing it off before the Big Sky Championship, EWU's cross country team will participate in the Spokane Community College's invite on Oct. 26.

On Oct. 28, two days after the SCC invite, the team will return home for the Big Sky Championship. The hosted championship location will be announced at a later date. Eagles championship portion of the season will include the teams participation in the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 11, in Seattle, Wash. and at the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Oak., on Nov. 18, to wrap the season up.
