Eastern Closed Out Non-Conference Play Sunday

Eastern Washington dropped a 4-0 match to Boise State on the Road

Eastern Washington women's soccer closed out its non-conference schedule on Sunday in a road match against Boise State. The Broncos won the match, 4-0, over the Eagles in Boise, Idaho.

Starting the game off, both teams attempted to establish possession and create more scoring opportunities. Eastern's first shot came from Lyric Baker in the 16th minute, but it was blocked. Boise St. would break the tie in the 26th minute, on a rebound shot attempt by Hyden Wilsey. In the 36th minute, the Broncos would add to their lead on a goal from Ashly Berge. Boise St. held a 2-0 lead as the teams went to halftime.  

In the second half, the Broncos extended their lead, scoring goals in the 56th and 66th minutes. The Eagles fought to get back in the game, registering six shots in the half including one on net from Marina Downing in the 62nd minute. The effort could not get Eastern on the scoreboard and Boise St. won the match, 4-0.

Eastern Washington's record now sits at 3-5-2 going into conference play. Boise St. improved to 4-2-3 on the season.

Kamryn Willoughby made 10 saves against Boise St., playing the entire 90 minutes in net. 

Maddie Morgan recorded four shots in the match.

Marina Downing had two shots against Boise St., including one on goal.

Eastern Washington will return to Cheney and host its first two Big Sky matches of the season. Eastern will begin with Idaho State on Thursday, Sep. 22 at 3 p.m. Pacific Time. The Eagles will then host Weber State on Sunday, Sep. 25 at 1 p.m.
