Eagles on the Road for Two Matches

Eastern faces Northern Colorado and Montana with a two-match winning streak

Starting off in Big Sky play, Eastern Washington Women's Soccer is 2-0. Hosting their first two matchups, the Eagles took home wins against Idaho State (1-0) and Weber State (3-1). Now on the road, the Eagles will be playing Northern Colorado Bears (4-6-2) and the Montana Grizzlies (4-3-5).

Eastern Washington is tied with Idaho and Portland State for first place in the Big Sky conference with a record of 2-0 and 5-5-2 overall.

Insight on EWU:
In the Eagles last two matches, they have scored four goals with four assists. Gillian Martin scored a goal in each of those matches, tying Maddie Morgan and Chloe Pattison with two goals on the season. Martin was named Big Sky offensive player of the week earlier today.

Eastern also attempted 27 total shots between both matches, along with getting 11 saves by true freshman, Kamryn Willoughby.

Morgan leads the team in points (7), assists (3), winning goals (2), shots on goal (8), and shots (23). Additionally, Morgan scored a goal and had an assist in the match against Weber State. She assisted Martin in the beginning of the match, then scored six minutes later in the 18th minute.

On the season, the Eagles have 14 total goals, taken 118 shots, and average 9.8 shots per match. Kalista Kakou, Madison Kem, and Martin are tied for second on the team with 11 shots this season.

Heading on the road to UNC, Eastern has a two-match winning streak.

Insight on UNC:
Hosting Eastern Washington, the Bears have a six-match losing streak. In the last two matchups for the Bears, they took a total of 27 shots and collected 13 saves. On the season, UNC has a total of 17 goals, 127 shots, and averaging 10.6 shots per match. Sophomore forward, Lauren Woodhull, leads her team in points (10), goals (5), shots (26), and shots on goal (17). Woodhull is tied in first with Melina Faris, Lucy Hart, and Haley O'Nan with one winning goal on the season.

In the Bears Big Sky home opener, they put up 13 shots and collected seven saves from the junior goalkeeper, Kaya Lindberg. Northern Colorado now sits at fifth place behind Northern Arizona.

Insight on Montana:
After snapping their two-match win streak, the Griz will be hosting Eastern with a one match losing streak after an 0-1 result against Portland State. In their last two matches versus Sacramento State and Portland State, the Griz have taken a total of 32 shots and gotten 11 saves. Sophomore forward, Delaney Lou Schorr, leads Montana in points (11), goals (5), shots on goal (10), and winning goals (2).

In their first Big Sky match of the season, the Griz won 2-1 against Sacramento State. Against Sac St., the Griz out-shot the Hornets, 13 to nine, and got two saves. Montana sits at second place in the Big Sky conference behind Idaho, Portland State and Eastern Washington.

After Eastern Washington faces off against Northern Colorado and the University of Montana, they will head down to play Northern Arizona, then host Sacramento State. The match against Northern Arizona will be on Thursday, October 6th at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. The next home match against Sac St. will be on Friday, October 14th at 1 p.m.
