Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles edged by Vandals after two second-half goals

Eastern Washington came up short its rivalry game against Idaho

CHENEY, Wash. — In the Sunday rivalry game, Eastern Washington women's soccer fell to Idaho at EWU Soccer Field. The Vandals picked up a 2-1 result over Eastern, scoring twice in the second half. The Eagles are now 1-4-1 in the Big Sky and 2-12-1.

The game was physical from the beginning, with both teams playing aggressively.

In the 15th minute, the Eagles moved the ball down the field for a scoring opportunity. Madison Kem passed quickly to Corina Froehle, who then found Gillian Martin streaking up the field on the right side. Martin launched her shot, curving it past Idaho's Kira Witte for the goal.

At halftime, Eastern held the 1-0 advantage in the game.

Idaho evened the game in the 62nd minute scoring on a long pass into the box and then redirected into the left side.

Four minutes later, the Vandals scored on the left side again, tapping the ball in on another long pass. Idaho led 2-1 over Eastern.

The Eagles had a chance at the equalizer in the 73rd minute with a header from Chloe Pattison, but it was saved by Witte. Maddie Morgan also fired off a pair of shots to try and tie the game, but were off target.

The score held and Idaho earned the road win over Eastern.
