Eagles close out regular season against Bobcats

Eastern Washington will be in Bozeman for the team’s final game before the Big Sky Tournament

The regular season comes to a close on Monday for Eastern Washington women's basketball as the team travels to play Montana State at 6 p.m. Pacific Time in Bozeman, Mont.

Last Time Out
Eastern Washington won its third-straight game on Saturday (Feb. 25) in a dominant defensive effort, winning 64-44 over Idaho State. The score was tied after the first quarter, but the Eagles surged ahead to lead at halftime. They pulled away in the third quarter and solidified the lead to win the game. Eastern held the Bengals to 32.7 shooting percentage, while shooting 40.0 percent for the game.

Jamie Loera recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a career-high 19 points and 10 assists. She nearly had a triple double after finishing with eight rebounds. Jacinta Buckley was just short of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

A Quick Look at the Eagles
Eastern Washington is fourth in Big Sky with a 10-7 record, and they are 17-10 overall this season. The Eagles can secure the No. 4 seed in the Big Sky Tournament with a win tomorrow night. This season, Eastern averages 69.6 points per game to rank third in the conference and they allow 63.1 to sit at fourth. The team's shooting percentage continues to be a strength as they have a 41.8 percentage from the floor to tie for second on the conference leaderboard. Eastern is allowing opponents a 39.7 shooting percentage to rank fifth.

Jamie Loera is the engine for the Eagles this season, and she is third on the team with an 11.0 points per game average, also ranking 18th in the Big Sky. With 5.9 rebounds per game, Loera is second on the team and 12th in the conference. The graduate student's 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio is first in the Big Sky and she tallies 4.9 assists per game, good for third. Loera has maintained her spot leading the conference in steals, as she now has 66 total on the season with a 2.4 average per game.

Since returning from injury, Jacinta Buckley is averaging 9.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds in 19.8 minutes. Buckley is fourth on the team and 19th in the conference with 10.7 points per game. The junior leads the team and is eighth in the Big Sky with 7.0 rebounds per game.

Aaliyah Alexander is averaging 11.8 points per game and is 14th on the conference leaderboard. In 14 conference games, Alexander is averaging 13.4 points per game and holds 12th in the Big Sky.

Scouting the Bobcats
Montana State leads the Big Sky with a 13-4 conference record (20-9 overall), and has already clinched a share of the Big Sky regular season title. The Bobcats defeated Portland State on the road, 63-34, on Saturday to get a share of the title. On offense, MSU averages 70.0 points per game that ranks second in the conference.

Darian White is eighth in the Big Sky in scoring (13.8) and fifth in assists (3.7). White is tied for third with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Series History
Eastern Washington holds a 36-48 record against Montana State, going 15-23 on the road against the Bobcats. The two teams played earlier this season in Cheney (Dec. 31), with MSU winning 92-84. Jaydia Martin recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the game.
