FARMINGTON, Utah — Eastern Washington University Athletics student-athletes performed well in the classroom to close out the 2022-23 academic year, with 66 earning Big Sky All-Academic honors. The Big Sky Conference announced its full list on Tuesday, with 641 total student-athletes being named All-Academic for the spring from 12 universities.
Eastern's 66 honorees ranks fourth in the Big Sky despite being one of only four full-time members that does sponsor a varsity softball program. Weber State led all conference members with 95 student-athletes represented.
EWU women's track and field placed 30 on the All-Academic team and is one of three teams in the conference to have 30-or-more student-athletes earning spots. Men's track and field added 18 All-Academic selections, ranking fourth among men's programs. Women's golf, men's tennis and women's tennis all had the majority of their rosters earning honors, with six apiece. Seven Eagles maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA during the spring.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
For outdoor track requirements, student-athletes need to participate in at least half of the team's competitions or the conference championship.
