FARMINGTON, Utah — After an undefeated weekend on the courts, Kelly Arends earned Big Sky Co-Player of the Week. Arends went 2-0 in singles to earn the award. She shares the honor with Portland State's Momoko Yoshimura.

The Eagles spent the weekend in Missoula, Mont. for two matches. Arends played at the No. 6 spot against the Grizzlies Shivika Agrawal, winning in two sets (6-4, 6-3). The win helped propel Eastern to a 5-2 match win over Montana on their home courts.

The following day against Utah State, Arends gutted out a win at the No. 5 spot against Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez. Arends won the first set 6-3, but dropped the second, 6-4. In the third-set tiebreaker, Arends won 10-5 to secure the point.

The wins marked Arends second and third victories of her young career. She is 3-3 overall this season, improving to a 2-2 record at No. 6 and 1-1 at No. 5, currently winning three-straight matches.

Eastern hosts Montana State for the team's conference opener on Saturday (Feb. 24) at 11 a.m. from the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse.
