CHENEY, Wash. — Continuing their tradition of academic excellence, the Eastern Washington University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors, as announced on January 30.
The Eagle men posted a team average GPA of 3.56, while the women earned an impressive 3.78. To qualify for this distinction, teams must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the most recent grading period. This marks the fifth consecutive year both the men's and women's teams have earned this recognition.
At the 2024 Big Sky Cross Country Championships, the Eagle men finished fourth, while the women placed fifth—highlighting the best team finish for the men since 2015. Many cross country athletes have since transitioned into indoor track and field season, with several earning spots on Eastern's All-Time Top 10 Indoor Performance List already this year.
The Eagles will next compete this weekend at the Fourth Annual Whitworth Invite, held at The Podium Powered by STCU in Spokane.
