Eggers earns first career Player of the Week award

The sophomore forward averaged over 20 points a game this past week

FARMINGTON, Utah — After two monster games in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, Jaecy Eggers earned her first career Big Sky Player of the Week award. 

Eggers averaged 25.0 points per game, adding 6.5 rebounds and three blocks. The Woodinville, Wash. native shot 48.6 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from three-point range. Eggers went 12-of-18(66.7%) from the free throw line between the two games. She played 64 total minutes, starting both games, while adding three steals. 

Eastern Washington went 2-0 in the Big Sky-Summit-League Challenge this past week, defeating Denver 66-65 at home and South Dakota 67-63 on the road. 

In the win over the Pioneers, Eggers scored a career-best 26 points on 10-of-15(66.7%) shooting, going 3-of-4(75%) from behind the arc. She added six rebounds and one steal in the game. 

Eggers followed up the career game with 24 points against the Yotes, shooting 7-of-20(35%), with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Through nine games, Eggers is averaging 13.6 points per game, ranking 12th in the conference and second on the team. Her 6.3 rebounds per game ranks 9th on the Big Sky leaderboard and second for the Eagles.

Riding a two-game winning streak, Eastern travels to Pullman on Wednesday night to play Washington State in a regional matchup, with tipoff at 6 p.m.
