Eagles Set More Personal Records, Zoe Dunn rises in the Record Books

SPOKANE, Wash. – Eastern Washington's track and field team had a busy weekend, splitting their efforts between the John Rahn Classic hosted by Whitworth and the Bryan Clay Multis hosted by the Azusa Pacific. The Eagles continued to add more personal records, with 16 total PRs, split between 10 for the women and six for the men. Zoe Dunn set a new PR in the Triple Jump, finishing second overall with a distance of 11.83m (38ft 9.75in), which moved her into tied for seventh all-time.

"Another Great Day in the PNW," said Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Erin Tucker. "April has not disappointed, and we love it. Maj and the Bomb Squad had a meet with PRs almost across the board. Everyone loves when the implements go far. Cort and Javen are dialing in, and I cannot wait to see how far they end up throwing this outdoor season."

Jeff Rahn Classic
The Field events got off to a strong start for Eastern's Athletes. Dyvhon Fonoti picked up a PR in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a distance of 48.10m (157ft 10in). Meanwhile, Dyvhine Fonoti finished second with a throw of 51.20m (168ft). In the discus, Dyvhine Fonoti finished fifth, while Dyvhon Fonoti finished sixth, and Ashley Perez finished ninth in the discus and javelin throw.

For the men, Javen Livas took third in both the hammer throw and shot put, finishing the first with a PR distance of 54.24m (177ft 11in) and the second with 15.90m (52ft 2in) respectively. Cort Gebbers finished fourth in the hammer throw with his own PR, a distance of 53.72m (175ft 2in) followed by JJ Niuamoa at ninth and Koda Woodard who also set PRs. Koda Woodard also finished ninth in the shot put.

In the jumping events, Blake Garza took third in the high jump after jumping 1.86m (6ft 1.25in), and Brandon Gutzwiler finished sixth. For the women, Anne Shipp tied for fourth after finishing with a height of 1.48m (4ft 10.25in). Kimberly Smith took first in the long jump with a distance of 6.01m (19ft 8.75in), while Zoe Dunn finished fifth and Rachel Hardy finished tenth. For the men, Nic Cunningham finished second with a distance of 6.70m, with Blake Garza finished sixth.

Zoe Dunn set a new PR in the triple jump, finishing second with a distance of 11.83m (38ft 9.75in), which now has her tied for seventh all-time in school history. Nic Cunningham finished fourth for the Men.

"Nice to see Suzi back over 13 ft, the sky is literally the limit with her and she's not done. Good to see Breauna and Reghan with season best. Coach Erin has the Vaulters ready to take a big jump, stay tuned."

In the pole vault, Suzi Woodall finished second with a height of 4.03m (13ft 2.5in), while Breauna Erickson finished fourth with a height of 3.73 (12ft 2.75in), a new PR. Reghan Skogen finished fifth.
On the track, Sydney Thweatt finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 1:04.49. In the 800-meters, Rhiannon Davies led the Eagles, finishing ninth.

In the distance events, Emma Tomlinson and Adrienne Root both set PRs in the 1500m, with Tomlinson finishing with a time of 4:50.27 and Root with a time of 4:57.16. For the men, both Evan Cheney and Noah Holden also set PRs, with Cheney finishing with a time of 4:03.46, and Holden with a time of 4:05.81. In the 5000-meters, Charlie Ledwith finished eighth with a time of 15:17.69.

The Eagles finished of the night with the 4x400-meter relay, with the Women's team consisting of: Amanda Nygard, Charlotte Terry, Faith Martinez and Emma Tomlinson finishing first with a time of 4:07.68.

Bryan Clay Multis
Ella Seelhoff was the lone Eagle at the Bryan Clay Multis finishing 12th in the heptathlon. Day one, she picked up a PR in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.37 and the 200m with a time of 26.35, while in the high jump she no heighted. She finished day one with 1938 points and is sitting in 13th place in group D.

On the final day of the heptathlon, she earned another personal record in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 5.10m (16ft 8.75in). Seelhoff again set a PR, this time in the javelin with a throw of 25.96m (85ft 2in). She finished off the day with the 800-meters, finishing with a time of 2:31.69. She finished day two and the heptathlon in 12th place with 3597 points.

"All in all we had a good meet for those athletes that competed. We took some steps forward and those that didn't compete are chomping at the bit to get to California and gets the best competition we will have at this point in the season. We are moving in the right direction and we will continue the PR train next week! Go Eags!!!!"
