Eagles Show Fight but Drop Four-Set Match to Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. — Eastern Washington volleyball dropped a tough four-set match (22-25, 25-16, 26-28, 17-25) to Northern Colorado on Saturday evening at the Bank of Colorado Arena. With the result, the Eagles move to 2-12 on the season and 0-2 in Big Sky play.

Head coach Jon Haruguchi reflected on the night, saying, "We had some bright spots tonight but in the end we just didn't play well enough when it mattered. We need to be bolder and trust our training. When we do that we are tough to keep down."

Kalista Lukovich led the Eastern attack with 15 kills to go along with 10 digs, while Judith Bolomboy added 10 kills and contributed on the defensive end with three blocks and two service aces. Setter Anna Bolich paced the offense with 30 assists and added 13 digs to notch a double-double. As a team, the Eagles finished with 45 kills and five aces, showing flashes of strong play but unable to match Northern Colorado's efficiency across four sets.

After falling in a competitive opening set, the Eagles bounced back with a dominant 25-16 win in the second frame, hitting .276 as a team and holding the Bears to a .139 mark. The third set proved pivotal, with EWU fighting into extra points before coming up just short, 28-26. Northern Colorado carried that momentum into the fourth to close out the match.
