CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington athletics is staying busy this week with four teams competing midway through the month. Football travels to Seattle to face Washington on Saturday. Women's golf begins its season with its first tournament. Women's volleyball is finally back at Reese Court, hosting the Eastern Volleyball Tournament. Soccer takes on another Mountain West opponent as they travel to play Air Force.

Football - at Washington (Saturday, Sept. 19 at 4:15 PM PT) - B1G Network
The Eagles head across the state to Seattle to face the University of Washington, which narrowly defeated Utah State on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Eastern looks to get back on track after a 23-41 loss against South Dakota on Saturday. The Eagles continued to showcase their offense, finishing with 342 total yards (217 through the air and 125 on the ground). Nate Bell passed for two touchdowns, while Malik Dotson rushed for his first score since 2024. Bryce Smith had 13 total tackles, with 10 solo and added his first career interception, halting a Yotes scoring chance in the redzone.

Eastern will look to build on their strong offense and capitalize on scoring opportunities on the road before beginning Big Sky play.

After Saturday's game, the Eagles will face Cal Poly for Welcome Weekend & Rush Roos Saturday, Sept. 26.

Women's Golf - Wolverine Invitational (Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 14-15, All Day) 
Women's golf is back in action, starting their fall season as they head to Utah to compete in the Wolverine Invitational on Monday, Sept. 14, and Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Eastern looks to start its season strong as All-Conference Berkley Ledesma returns for the Eagles, along with Esha Reddy, Lexie Mahler, and Spencer Cerenzia. The Eagles bring on two newcomers, Ella Follen and Tyla Greenwood.

The Eagles will be back in action in Spokane, hosting the Kalispel Invitational on Sept. 24 (Monday) and Sept. 22 (Tuesday) at Kalispel Country Club.

Soccer – at Air Force (Sunday, Sept. 20 at 11:00 AM PST)
Eastern Washington hits the road this week for its final non-conference road match of the season, traveling to Colorado to take on Air Force on Sunday, Sept. 20.

The Eagles enter the week looking to bounce back following a 2-0 loss to Grand Canyon on Sunday. Despite the result, Eastern generated plenty of opportunities, finishing with 13 shots and putting six on goal. Deanna Montero recorded two shots on frame, while Noelle Raczykowski led the Eagles with four total attempts.

Eastern will look to turn those chances into goals against the Falcons as the Eagles continue their final stretch of non-conference play before shifting their focus toward the Big Sky schedule.

Following Sunday's matchup, Eastern returns home to host Oregon State on Friday, Sept. 25 at the EWU Soccer Field. 

Volleyball – Eastern Volleyball Tournament - vs Nevada (Thursday, Sept. 17 at 6:00 PM); vs CSU Bakersfield (Friday, Sept. 18 at 6:00 PM); vs Portland (Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1:30 PM)
Eastern Washington returns home this week as the Eagles prepare to host the EWU Tournament at Reese Court. Eastern will welcome Nevada, CSU Bakersfield and Portland to Cheney for three matches from Sept. 17-19.

The Eagles finished the Boise State Classic with a 1-2 record after facing Saint Mary's, Sacramento State and Boise State. Eastern was tested throughout the weekend against three strong opponents, with Kalista Lukovich continuing to lead the Eagles offensively and Elle Bruegman anchoring the back row. The tournament provided Eastern with another opportunity to compete against quality non-conference competition as the Eagles continue to build toward Big Sky play.

Eastern now shifts its attention to its home tournament of the season. The Eagles will face Nevada, CSU Bakersfield and Portland over the three-day tournament at Reese Court. The weekend marks Eastern's final non-conference tournament before the Eagles open Big Sky Conference play on Sept. 24.

Cross Country - Montana Invite (Friday, Sept. 18 at 5:00 PM PST)
Eastern Washington cross country returns to action this week as the Eagles travel to Missoula for the Montana Invitational on Friday, Sept. 18. The meet will be Eastern's second competition of the 2026 season.

Eastern opened the season with a strong showing at the Clash of the Inland Northwest, hosted by Gonzaga. The Eagle men finished second with 79 points, while the women placed third with 84 points. Conner Wirth led the men with a 13th-place finish in 24:28.5, followed by Charlie Ledwith in 22nd with a personal-best 24:47.0. On the women's side, Sara Sanders paced Eastern with an 11th-place finish in 21:44.7, while Rhiannon Davies followed in 16th at 22:01.4.

After a week away from competition, the Eagles will look to build on their season-opening performances at the Montana Invitational. The meet provides another early-season test for Eastern as the team continues to work toward the Big Sky Conference Championships on Oct. 30.
