2015: Listed as a starter at center on the preseason depth chart.
2014: He made his only start of the season (third of his career) at center against Montana Western (8/30/14) when the Eagles finished with 583 yards of offense in the 41-9 win. He helped lead Eastern’s offense to new heights in 2014, especially on the scoreboard. For the first time in school history, Eastern scored at least 50 points in six games, including outings of 56, 54, 52, 52, 56 and 56. The Eagles were first in FCS in scoring offense (44.1 per game) and first downs (361 total), second in passing efficiency (163.52), third in total offense (513.4) and second in passing offense (328.2). Eastern’s red zone offense was second in FCS, scoring 94.9 percent of the time.
2013: Played in 10 games, including one starting assignment at left offensive tackle against Idaho State (11/2/13). He injured his knee against Cal Poly and missed EWU’s final four games of the season. He helped Eastern set Big Sky and school records with 592 points, 83 touchdowns and 8,002 yards of offense in the 2013 season. As a team, EWU led FCS in passing efficiency (school record 182.6), and was fourth in total offense (533.5 per game), fourth in passing (349.8), 41st in rushing (183.7) and seventh in scoring (39.5). Eastern’s offensive line was selected as the FCS Offensive Line of the Week by Beyond Sports Network twice during the season. The first time came when EWU had 625 yards of offense in a 49-46 upset of 25th-ranked Oregon State (8/31/13) to open the season. The second time came in a 55-34 win at Idaho State (11/2/13) when the Eagles finished with a school record 743 yards of offense.
2012: Made the first start of his career against Sacramento State (10/20/12). He helped EWU rank seventh in the FCS in passing yards per game (318.9), 14th overall in total offense (442.0) and 17th in scoring (33.7). He missed the last six games of the season with a knee injury.
2011: Redshirted. Was selected as the team’s offensive scout team player of the week once.
HS: Graduated from Union HS in 2011. Selected to play in the 4A/3A East-West All-State Game, which took place July 1, 2011, on EWU’s red Sprinturf surface at Roos Field. He finished with three tackles as a starting linebacker and also saw action as a tight end as his East squad defeated the West 19-0. Named by the Seattle Times as a “White Chip” selection as one of the top 100 prospects in the state of Washington. Named to the Vancouver Columbian All-Region team as a tight end and was a first team All-Greater St. Helens League 4A selection as well. In addition, he was selected to the 2010 GSHLfootball.com 4A All-League team as both a tight end and linebacker. He helped lead his team to a 7-3 record and into the State 4A Playoffs, where they lost to Bothell in the first round. He also played on the 2009 Union team that lost to Bellevue in the State 3A semifinals and finished 11-2 after winning the GSHL 3A title. He also lettered twice for the basketball team, and played for the 2010 State 3A champions in just the team’s third-year of existence. Union defeated top-ranked and unbeaten Enumclaw 51-50 in the title game as the Titans finished 18-9. Union was 15-8 in Boatright’s senior year in 2011. He also competed two years in track and field. His championship endeavors carried over into singing as well. Union was the WIAA Large Men’s Ensemble Choral State Champions in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Personal: Interdisciplinary studies (liberal arts) major. Born 5/1/93 in Eugene, Ore. His parents are Scot and Mari Boatright. His father played center for Oregon from 1987-90. The Ducks, who hadn't been to a bowl game in 26 years since the 1963 Sun Bowl, went to two straight bowl games in Boatright's final two seasons -- the 1989 Independence Bowl and the 1990 Freedom Bowl. In those games, Oregon defeated Tulsa, 27-24, and lost to Colorado State, 32-31. Since that 26-year drought, Oregon has been to bowl games in 22 of the last 26 seasons.
