Alex Hobbs joins Eastern after a notable stint as the assistant coach at Carroll College, where he served as head assistant coach for one season. During his time at Carroll, Hobbs played a key role in guiding the team to a national tournament appearance and a Frontier Conference championship game.

Before his coaching career, Hobbs was a standout guard at Boise State University, where he left a lasting legacy. He was a prolific scorer, finishing his career in the Broncos' 1,000-point club. In 2018, he earned the Mountain West Conference's Sixth Man of the Year award, and in 2019, he was recognized as an All-Conference performer. Over his college career, Hobbs played in 120 games, starting 42, and contributed to two NIT appearances.

Following college, Hobbs had a successful professional career, playing for the Kordall Steelers in Luxembourg, Germany. In his sole season with the team, he led the league in scoring and was named First Team All-Import.
