Jerry Brown

At a Glance
Brown joined the Eastern staff in July 2023 as an assistant coach after spending the 2022-23 season as an assistant at Denver University. Prior to that, he had stops at San Diego (2019-22), Stanford (2019), UTEP (2018-19) and the NBA's Detroit Pistons (2017-18). As a player, he played at both Fresno State and Santa Clara University, taking on leadership positions as team captain while earning his bachelor's degree in 2013 (Fresno State) and master's in 2015 (Santa Clara).

Coaching Experience
  • Assistant Coach at Denver University (2022-23; 1 season)
    • 15-17 record, including 2-2 against Big Sky opponents (wins over Idaho and Idaho State)
    • The Pioneers ranked 1st in the Summit League in field goal percentage (48.7) and rebound margin, and 2nd in effective field goal percentage (52.9) and fastbreak points per game (9.09).
    • Brown was involved in all aspects of the program, including on-court instruction, player development, video analysis, recruiting, community service and student-athlete academic support.
  • Assistant Coach at University of San Diego (2019-22; 3 seasons)
    • Organization, planning and implementation of daily practices.
    • Primary focus on full team and defensive players.
    • Involved in the recruitment of key players to USD via the transfer portal, including Marcellus Earlington from St. John's, who went on to be a two-time All-WCC player (Honorable Mention 2021-22, Second Team 2022-23). Others included Jase Townsend (All-Summit League at Denver) and Terrell Brown-Soares (Top 5 all-time in blocks at Pitt).
  • Director of Player Development at Stanford (2019; July-Oct.)
    • Analyzed film, charted statistics, and developed individual development plans.
    • Provided support for student-athletes toward their academic and personal goals.
    • Assisted in recruiting.
  • Director of Scouting and Game Preparation at UTEP (2018-19; 1 season)
    • Created detailed scouting reports on opponents and team for self-scouting, video analysis and administrative duties.
  • Video Coordinator at Detroit Pistons (2017-18; 1 season)
    • Maintained video library for scouting video and post-game film.
    • Participated as scout team player during practices and organized pre-NBA Draft workouts.
