Rhys is entering his second season with Eastern Washington University as a graduate assistant and video coordinator. In this role, he contributes across multiple areas, including filming practices and assisting players during workouts. Prior to joining Eastern Washington, Rhys played collegiate basketball for five seasons at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. Although injuries sidelined him for three of those seasons, they also sparked his passion for coaching. During that time, he served as an honorary assistant player/coach, where he was actively involved in developing scouting reports and game plans. Rhys earned his degree in Applied Biology while at Embry-Riddle.
