High School:
Scherer arrives in Cheney from Littleton, Colorado, where he starred at Valor Christian High School. A dominant force at the prep level, he was named Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year in both 2024 and 2025. He also earned 6A First Team All-State honors twice and was a two-time recipient of Colorado's Mr. Basketball award.

Scherer led Valor Christian to a state championship in 2024 and capped off a stellar senior season by averaging 26.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. He surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his high school career and holds the school record for most career points scored.
