Biography
Hayford on Jörg: “Fred had a greatredshirt year and has really worked to improve his game andathleticism. We anticipate a great sophomore season from BigFred.”
2013-14: Redshirted.
2012-13: Was one of a school-record nine Eagles to beselected to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. Jörgplayed in 16 Eastern games, averaging 2.6 minutes, 0.3 points and0.6 rebounds per game. He also blocked a pair of shots. He had twopoints, a rebound and an assist against Montana(1/3/13).
High School: Graduated from Gymnasium Eversten in 2012.Along with Eastern teammate Thomas Reuter, Jörg attendedtryouts for the U-20 Germany squad in December 2010. Jörgplayed in one game for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the BasketballBundesliga League (BBL), the highest level league of professionalclub basketball in Germany. Previously, he played for AkademieWeser-Ems in the U-19 Nachwuchs Basketball Bundesliga League(NBBL), averaging 14.7 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shotsper game. He ranked second in the league in blocked shots, seventhin rebounding and fourth in double-doubles with seven (in 12games). He made 59.0 percent of his shots from the field and alsoaveraged 2.0 assists per game. His single game high for reboundswas 25.
Personal: He was born on Aug. 11, 1992, inSaarbrücken, Germany. Business management major with a 3.49grade point average. His parents are Hermann and Martina Jörg.At 7-1, he is the tallest player in Eastern history. Eastern hashad several 6-11 players in its history as a NCAA Division I member(since 1983-84), with the most recent being Jeremy McCulloch(2002-05). The only former Eagle taller than that is 7-foot UliSledtz from Gelsenkirchen, West Germany. Sledtz transferred fromthe University of Washington and played for Eastern in the 1978-79and 1979-80 seasons. Frederik’s shoe size was 10 when he wasnine years old, and he now wears an 18. Name is pronounced“Yourg.”
