Biography
Hayford on Moon: “Garrett providesvaluable minutes off the bench with tremendous energy, and has acommitment to rebounding and defending.”
2013-14: Moon played in 26 of EWU’s 31games, all off the bench. He averaged 7.1 minutes, 1.2 points and1.5 rebounds per outing, to go along with totals of three assistsand five steals. Moon provided a spark for the Eagles in severalgames, including Seton Hall (12/22/13) when he had season highs offive points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists. He also had fivepoints and five rebounds on the road at Northern Arizona(1/16/14).
2012-13: Redshirted.
Junior College: A former junior college teammateof former Eagles Collin Chiverton and Ivan Dorsey, Moon played twoseasons at the City College of San Francisco. He and Dorsey led theRams to a 27-3 record in the 2011-12 season. San Francisco was theNo. 1-ranked junior college team in California before falling 76-70at home in overtime in the playoffs to Cabrillo. That loss snappeda 23-game winning streak for the Rams, who won the Coast-Northtitle with a perfect 12-0 mark. As a freshman, Moon, Dorsey andanother eventual Eagle, Collin Chiverton, helped CCSF to the2010-11 California Community Colleges Athletic Association titleand finish 32-1. Thus, Moon was on the winning end of 54 of 59games in junior college. Moon started half of his team’sgames as a freshman, as San Francisco finished the season with a27-game winning streak and was a perfect 12-0 to win theCoast-North title.
High School: Graduated from Wallenberg HS in2010. He averaged 18 points per game as a senior in leading theBulldogs to a 21-8 record overall and 13-1 mark in the AcademicAthletic Association. He earned AAA Player of the Year honors, andwas also a first team All-San Francisco pick by the San FranciscoExaminer and first team AAA All-City selection. He also earnedsecond team All-San Francisco City Section accolades. He scored 31points in the team’s semifinal victory in the San FranciscoSection, marking the first win in the semis for the Bulldogs in sixtries for head coach Pat Mulligan. As a junior, Wallenberg finished20-11 overall and 11-4 in the league, and his sophomore season histeam was 25-5 and 10-1 in conference play. In all, teams he playedon in high school were 66-24 (73 percent) and 34-6 in league play(85 percent).
Personal: Interdisciplinary studies major. He wasborn on March 20, 1992, in San Francisco, Calif. His parents areJeff and Jessie Moon.
