Career: Aiken has joined teammate Jacob Davison on an elite list of just 23 players all-time at EWU with at least 800 career points and 200 rebounds. He now has 877/649 in his career, and Davison increased his totals to 1,365/348 in 2020-21. Aiken is just 123 points away from joining four other former Eagles in the 1000 point/400 rebound/100 assists club. He currently has a total of 877/649/104 in his 85-game career. He has started 66 of those 85 career games and is averaging 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds with 19 career double-doubles (14-5 record). He has 103 career steals, 76 blocked shots and 104 assists. His 649 rebounds currently rank ninth in school history, his 7.6 average is 10th and his 76 blocks are eighth. He also ranks ninth in 3-point field goal attempts with 432 and is 12th in makes with 139. He has a total of 44 career games scoring in double figures (four with at least 20) and has rebounded in double figures on 25 occasions. He’s led Eastern in single games in scoring (14 times), rebounding (30), steals (30), blocked shots (29) and assists (8).
NCAA Tournament Experience: He started and played 31 minutes in Eastern’s 93-84 loss to 12th-ranked and third-seeded Kansas on March 20, 2021, in the NCAA Tournament. He made just 1-of-9 shots to finish with two points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Big Sky Tournament Experience: Aiken has now played in six Big Sky Conference Tournament games after helping EWU to its three-game sweep at the 2021 Big Sky Conference Championship. He started all three games and averaged 32 minutes, 9.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.3 blocked shots and 1.3 assists. He had 12 points and eight boards in the quarterfinals versus Northern Arizona (3/11/21), then had eight points and 10 more rebounds versus Montana (3/12/21) in the semifinals. He closed the tournament with nine points, 10 rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals and an assists in the championship against Montana State (3/13/21). He concluded his first year as an Eagle in 2018-19 by being selected to the All-Tournament team at the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Boise, Idaho. He averaged 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks with a pair of double-doubles in his first postseason experience.
2020-21 Honors: Selected to the Winter Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the third-straight season. Nothing short of a beast at the end of the season for EWU, Aiken concluded the league season by earning first team All-Big Sky Conference honors and being named the league’s defensive MVP. Aiken is just the second Eagle to earn the Big Sky’s top honor on defense, joining Eastern Athletics Hall of Fame member Alvin Snow who was honored in 2004. Opponents made just 41.7 percent of their field goal attempts versus EWU, a NCAA Division I record that was previously held by the 2019-20 squad at 42.7 percent. Eastern also held opponents to 31.4 percent from the 3-point arc, an all-time record that broke the previous mark of 33.3 percent in 1994-95. Besides his season-ending accolades, Aiken was honored two-straight weeks as Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for helping Eastern to back-to-back season sweeps over the Montana schools. The league made the announcement on Feb. 15 and 22, and he was also honored with the same honor by College Sports Madness the second week. The 6-foot-7 junior from Redlands, Calif., has
averaged 24.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in twin 90-76 victories over Montana for EWU’s first season sweep of the Grizzlies in 18 years (since 2003). Coupled with a pair of victories over Montana State the week prior when Aiken was also honored by the league, Eastern enjoyed a 15.0 margin of victory in the four games (16, 16, 14, 14). In the two games combined versus the Grizzlies, Aiken made 65.4 percent of his shots overall, including 7-of-11 from the 3-point stripe for 63.6 percent. He also made 8-of-10 free throws and had six steals, three assists and a pair of blocked shots. Eastern led by as many as 27 in the first half in the Jan. 18 gave versus UM, and 22 at halftime in the rematch, with its largest lead in that game at 29. The wins helped extend EWU’s winning streak to nine – just two from the school record -- and keep the Eagles in sole possession of first place in the Big Sky Conference standings. In four games combined against MSU and UM, Aiken had a trio of 20+ scoring performances and was a single rebound away from averaging a double-double. He had 81 points (20.3 average), 39 rebounds (9.8), nine assists (2.3) and eight steals (2.0) in those four Eagle victories (average winning margin of 15.0 per game). In the first game against the Grizzlies, Aiken hit all six of his 2-point shots and 3-of-6 3-pointers to finish with 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals. In the next game, he finished with a career-high 28 points, 10 rebounds, two blocked shots, two steals and two assists. He sank 8-of-14 shots overall, 4-of-5 from the 3-point arc and 8-of-9 free throws. His previous career high was 26 versus Washington on Dec. 4, 2019. In the sweep at Montana State on Feb. 11 and 13, Aiken averaged a double-double in the 93-77 and 85-69 victories. In the two games combined, Aiken averaged 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, and also had six assists and a pair of steals. The 6-foot-7 junior guard/forward from Redlands, Calif., was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line while making 47.4 percent overall (9-of-19) and 4-of-12 3-point attempts. In the first win on Feb. 11, he scored 20 points and made all eight of his free throws to help EWU break a school record with a .964 team percentage (27-of-28). He also had eight rebounds and three assists for EWU. In the next game, in which EWU had a key 37-35 rebounding advantage, Aiken had his second double-double of the season and 18th of his career by finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds. He also had a trio of assists and a steal as EWU held MSU to just seven offensive rebounds after having 17 in the first meeting. Prior to the start of the season, Aiken joined teammate Jacob Davison on the 2020-21 Big Sky Conference Preseason All-Conference Team announced by the league office on Nov. 10.
2020-21 Statistics: He averaged 11.3 points (22nd in the Big Sky) and 8.4 rebounds (first) in his junior season while making 58-of-71 free throws (.817). He also had 32 steals (1.3 per game to rank eighth), 25 blocked shots (1.0 to rank seventh) and 48 assists. In Big Sky Conference games only, Aiken led the league in rebounding (8.9) and was 18th in scoring (13.1), 10th in free throw percentage (.804), 13th in 3-pointers per game (1.53), 10th in steals (1.2) and fourth in blocked shots (1.2). He helped Eastern break the all-time school record for accuracy from the free throw line, a mark of 79.1 percent to break the previous record of 77.9 percent in 1979-80 (EWU’s DI record of 77.0 percent came in 2016-17). The Eagles also set a single game free throw percentage record in a 93-77 victory at Montana State (2/11/21) when Aiken made all eight of his attempts. Eastern made its first 25 free throws and finished 27-of-28 from the free throw line for a school-record .964 percentage to break the previous record of.952 set twice previously (20-of-21). Aiken scored in double figures in three of EWU’s first five games, but then exploded with 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the 3-point stripe in EWU’s 80-64 win at Northern Arizona (12/19/20) and also had nine boards. He had his first double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds versus Southern Utah (1/16/20). He finished with three double-doubles on the season and had seven performances of at least 10 rebounds. He became just the ninth Eagle in school history to average more than 10 points and eight rebounds during Big Sky Conference play, with Aiken averaging 13.1 and 8.9 in the 2020-21 season.
2019-20: Aiken earned third team All-Big Sky Conference honors after a season in which he nearly averaged a double double and was picked as the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. Earned Big Sky All-Academic honors for a second-straight season. He also joined teammate Mason Peatling in earning mid-season All-Big Sky accolades from HoopsHD.com. Aiken was fourth in NCAA Division I in defensive rebounds per game (8.2) and 36th in rebounding overall (9.7). He led the Big Sky in both categories, and was also 41st in the nation with 12 double-doubles. Aiken was third in the league and 85th in the nation in steals (1.74), and his 13.3 scoring average for the season was 14th in the league. Aiken closed the league season second in rebounding (9.0), first in defensive rebounds (7.5), third in 3-pointers made per game (2.3), fifth in steals (1.7), 12th in blocked shots (1.1) and 21st in scoring (12.1). His 9.7 rebound average was the best for an Eastern player since Ron Cox averaged 12.3 in the 1976-77 season when Eastern was affiliated with the NAIA. Aiken’s average broke the previous DI record of 9.1 in the 2016-17 campaign. He had a career-best 26-point effort at Washington on Dec. 4, and had 12 double-doubles on the season. Four of his double-doubles came at home in the preseason – 11 points and 15 rebounds in a 98-82 win over North Dakota on Dec. 8; 11 points and 11 rebounds in an 87-85 win over Belmont on Nov. 26; 16 points and 22 rebounds against Multnomah on Dec. 13; and 23 points and 10 caroms versus Omaha on Dec. 17. His 22 rebounds versus Multnomah were a career high and equal the second-most in school history behind the record of 28. Against Belmont he scored eight of EWU’s last 12 points and had four defensive boards in the final 44 seconds. He had 19 points and five rebounds against High Point on Nov. 23, but prior to that had a string of three-straight double-doubles. He had 11 points and 19 rebounds against Seattle in which EWU used an 11-1 run in the second half to overcome a nine-point deficit. Aiken followed with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds at Saint Louis, then had 17 and 13, respectively, at Boston College. He was averaging a double-double from Nov. 9 until Feb. 13 when he had just four boards in a 74-71 home loss to Idaho to drop below that. He joined teammates Mason Peatling and Jacob Davison as one of the team’s co-captains for the 2019-20 season, and Aiken went on to win team Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season.
2018-19: Earned Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors. He concluded his first year as an Eagle by being selected to the All-Tournament team at the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Boise, Idaho. He averaged 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks with a pair of double-doubles in his first postseason experience. A candidate for Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year honors, Aiken averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in Big Sky Conference play, including 11.6 and 7.7, respectively, in the last 10 games as a starter as an injury replacement for Jacob Davison. He had three double-doubles, 11 blocked shots and 10 steals in those 10 games, shooting at a 46.1 percent clip from the field with 17 3-pointers. He closed the year with 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in the Big Sky Tournament championship game versus Montana (3/16/19). That was his second-straight double-double – and fourth of the season – after finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 77-61 semifinal win over Southern Utah (3/15/19). He had 20 points, eight boards and a pair of steals in EWU’s 80-77 win at Weber State (3/9/19) to wrap-up third place in the league standings. Versus Portland State (3/2/19), he had 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists, and made a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer on a drive and assist by sophomore Jack Perry. That game-winning play ended up No. 6 that night on ESPN’s “Plays of the Day” as EWU ended PSU’s six-game winning streak. One game earlier he had 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in an 86-73 win at NAU (2/23/19). Aiken made his collegiate debut as a starter when Eastern played at Syracuse (11/6/18) and he finished with five points. Aiken, however, scored just 19 points in the next 10 games he played until coming off the bench to score a season-high 11 on 3-of-5 shooting from the field with a pair of 3-pointers in a 78-71 victory over Montana (1/10/19). He scored eight more on 3-of-3 shooting from the field against Montana State (1/19/19). Then, helping fill-in for injured starter Mason Peatling, Aiken made 8-of-10 shots from the field and 4-of-5 from the 3-point stripe to finish with 24 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots and a pair of steals in an 82-79 win over Southern Utah (2/2/19). One game later, he had nine boards, two points and two blocked shots versus Northern Arizona (2/4/19), and had 17 points with six rebounds versus Idaho (2/18/19) in his first game as a replacement for Davison. He has had seven double-figure scoring performances – two with at least 20 -- to go along with a trio with 10 or more rebounds. Eastern was 6-1 in the seven games he scored at least 10 points.
2017-18: Redshirted.
HS: Graduated from East Valley High School in Redlands, Calif., in 2017. In 94 career games, Aiken scored 1,730 points (18.4 per game) and had 1,038 rebounds (11.0) while making 54 percent of his shots overall, 34 percent from the 3-point stripe (132-of-384) and 72 percent from the free throw line. He averaged 25.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as a senior to earn
San Bernardino Sun All-Area first team honors. The Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association also picked him as a second team All-Southern Section 1A selection. He was additionally honored on the All-Citrus Belt League first team for the second-straight season. He had 20 double-doubles as a senior, including highs of 36 points versus Eisenhower (18 rebounds) and 20 rebounds against Yucaipa (18 points). He also averaged 2.4 steals, 2.4 blocks and 1.8 assists per game in his final season, while making 48 percent overall, 34 percent from the 3-point line (87-of-259) and 82 percent from the line. As a junior, Aiken averaged 18.6 points and 12 rebounds to earn All-California Interscholastic Federation honors. He was the co-MVP of the Citrus Belt League. He had 17 double-doubles as he led his team to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 2A Playoffs. He scored 19 in the season-ending 63-50 loss to La Mirada, as the Wildcats finished with a 25-6 record. Formerly from Long Beach, Calif., he had a 3.3 grade point average in high school. He averaged 12.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore when his team finished third in the Citrus Belt League. The team advanced all the way to the CIF-SS Division 2A championship game against Compton, where the Wildcats lots 63-48. He was coached in high school by William Berich. He also played varsity volleyball at East Valley, as well as football (quarterback) as a freshman in high school.
Personal: Majoring in political science at Eastern, and has a 3.45 grade point average at EWU through winter quarter 2021. Born June 1, 1999, in Long Beach, Calif. Parents are Kim Aiken Sr. and Latisha Arthur.
