Max Weber brought over 10 years of college coaching experience to Eastern Washington University when he joined the program in March, 2014. Weber looks to continue building upon a highly-successful first four years at Eastern Washington University.

The 2017 season was Weber’s fourth season as Assistant Coach for the Eagles. The past season saw the Eagles break numerous program records including an overall record of 16-6-1 and returning to the NCAA Tournament as the #14 seed where for the second straight year faced off against the defending National Champion University of Southern California, losing 2-1 in double OT in Los Angeles, CA. The game marked back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history.

Additionally, the Eagles had highlight season wins over Gonzaga (first since 2002), their first Ivy league victory over Cornell, and their first win over conference foe Northern Colorado since 2008.

During the regular season, EWU was crowned the Big Sky Regular Season Champions after going 8-1-1 in the conference, marking the most Big Sky wins in a season for an Eastern Washington squad. The regular season championship was the second in program history, and the first since 2004. Eastern also had a program record of 11 regular season home games and two post season competitions, compiling an 11-1-1 record at home.

Individual achievements followed with the team’s success, including first ever four-time Big Sky First- Team selection in Chloe Williams who also was the first-ever three time Big Sky Offensive MVP. Four Eagles were selected as First-Team All-Big Sky honors (Seniors Chloe Williams, Aimie Inthoulay, M’Kenna Hayes, and junior Jenny Chavez-) and two Honorable Mention selections (Senior Lexi Klinkenberg and freshman Grace Klinkenberg). The 2017 season saw 48 goals scored, for another program record in a season, beating the 2016 squad’s record of 44. A program record of nine shutouts was seen also during the campaign. Williams and Chavez were selected by the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team for the second straight season.

Weber’s third season as an assistant coach saw the Eagles finish the season with the program’s best overall record of 13-5-4 and won the Big Sky Tournament Championship for the first time in program history. The Eagles faced #2 seed University of Southern California, losing 3-1, where USC went on to win the National Championship. Program records were set in 2016 in wins (13), longest unbeaten streak (10), goals scored (44), first post-season victory ever, and the school’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles were honored with junior Chloe Williams winning the Big Sky Offensive MVP for the second straight season and three First-Team All Big Sky players in Williams, M’Kenna Hayes and Jenny Chavez.

In addition, the Eagles were represented by Delaney Romero and Aimie Inthoulay as Honorable Mention selections. Williams and Chavez were selected by the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team, representing the first-time in program history players from EWU were honored.

During his second season at EWU, Weber helped the Eagles to a 12-4-3 overall record (best campaign in school history), breaking program records in total victories (12), Big Sky Conference wins (6) and consecutive matches won (8) while scoring a school-record 34 goals in 19 matches. The Eagles returned to the Big Sky Championships for the second consecutive year, for only the second time in program history. In addition, the Eagles had 18 players represented on the Big Sky All-Academic Team.

During his first season at EWU, Weber assisted the Eagles in winning eight games (good for second-most in program history), 27 goals scored (second-most all-time), scoring in 10 straight matches, which was also a program record. The Eagles won five conference games, setting the program record for conference wins in a season and returned to the Big Sky Championships after a five-year absence.

Prior to his arrival in Cheney, Weber spent seven seasons as Bodnar's top assistant at Walla Walla Community College, helping the Warriors win four NWAACC championships and a combined 10 East Region titles with the men's and women's soccer programs.

Before he began coaching, Weber had a very successful playing career at both Walla Walla CC and Whitman College. A team captain at both stops, Weber earned academic all-conference honors in each of his four collegiate seasons. He was a two-year starter for WWCC and led the men's team to a second place finish in the 2005 NWAACC Championship.

Weber finished his collegiate career at Whitman College, captaining the team and leading them to one of its best finishes in school history. In his senior season at Whitman, Weber received the R.V. Borleske Trophy, given annually to the school's top male athlete.
