Biography

2009: Named to the Big SkyAll-Academic team for the third-consecutive season. Earned a spotin the starting lineup in 22 of the 27 matches in which shecompeted. Turned in her best offensive effort against San JoseState (Sept. 10), where she hit at a team-leading .462 clip(13-1-26), while also collecting 11 digs and two blocks. Recorded acareer-high three blocks on three separate occasions and acareer-high three aces in Eastern’s 3-1 victory over Houston(Sept. 4). Had double-digit digs in six different matches,including a season-high 18 against conference foe Idaho State(Sept. 25). Tallied 16 digs in EWU’s 3-0 defeat of MontanaState, which tied the second-best three-match defensive performancefor an Eagle in 2008.

2008: For the second straight season, Brownearned Big Sky Conference All-Academic accolades. On the second dayof the season, she had two of her five double-digit killperformances of the campaign, 10 in a 3-0 sweep of Arkansas,hitting .318 in the process (10-3-22), and 11 in a 3-2 loss to No.17 Colorado State. She had two career highs in a 3-1 win overWashington State with two service aces and a pair of blocks. Brownalso had a trio of career marks in a 3-1 loss at Northern Arizonaon Oct. 4, tallying 16 kills and 21 digs to go with two aces. Thatcontest saw Brown record a double-double for the first time, whileher dig total far surpassed her previous career mark of nine. Shealso played well in a four-set victory over the Lumberjacks on Nov.6, hitting .333 (12-1-33) with 12 kills. Her second-highest digtotal, 17, was achieved in a sweep at Portland State.

2007: Brown was named to the Big SkyConference’s All-Academic team. She played well in successivematches versus Utah State and San Francisco, compiling eight andfive kills, respectively, in those contests. Late in the season,she took over on the left side for an injured Chelsea Ross. Her topperformance came in her first full match following that incident,as she hit .400 (11-1-25) in a 3-1 win over Montana State. Twomatches later, Brown set a season high in kills with 16 againstNorthern Colorado. In three of the last four contests of theseason, Brown had 10+ kills. Her 14 putaways in the Big Skyquarterfinals helped the Eagles to a dramatic 3-2 win over NorthernArizona.

High School: Her senior year, Brown was named tothe 2B All-State first team and was the Most Valuable Player of theNorth Central League. She also earned MVP honors in basketball.Each of those teams placed sixth at state that year. In the statetrack meet, she was fourth in the 400-meter run and eighth in thelong jump as a junior, seventh in the high jump as a senior. She isthe daughter of Penny and Gary Brown and is majoring in recreationmanagement and outdoor recreation. Her sister, Laney, is a redshirtfreshman on the 2008 EWU squad.
