Played in 12 matches and 42 sets, making 10 starts in her first season with the Eagles at the setter position… Averaged 6.90 assists per set which was eighth in the Big Sky Conference… Dished 290 total assists… Had double-digit assists in every match, with six over 20, four over 30 and a career-high 50 at Weber State on Jan. 23… Also had five double-doubles in her debut season… Tied her career-high 14 digs twice, once against Portland State on Feb. 7 and at Southern Utah on March 20, earning double-doubles in both matches… Had five matches with 10-or-more digs… Averaged 2.45 digs per set with 103 total… Totaled eight blocks, 10 kills and four service aces... Named to the Fall Big Sky All-Academic team.
Prior to Eastern Washington
Russell is a junior from Spokane, Wash., where she played two years of standout volleyball at Spokane Falls Community college and briefly joined the Gonzaga program before transferring to Eastern Washington. She is immediately eligible to compete and join the Eagles. There is familiarity already in Cheney for Russell, as her sister McKenna Russell is also a junior on the team. The two are triplets and also played with sister Allison at SFCC.
At SFCC, Russell was twice named to the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) East Region First Team and was the MVP in 2019. She led the Sasquatch to consecutive NWAC Championship titles with a two-year overall record of 76-2, including a perfect 40-0 season as freshman. As a sophomore, she was named the NWAC Tournament MVP. She ended her career second-all time in total assists in SFCC history, garnering 2,322 in just two seasons.

Russell is also a two-time AVCA All-American and was named to the second team in 2018 before earning first team honors in 2019. In August of 2019, she earned an AVCA Two-Year College Player of the Week honor and was named the NWAC Player or Setter of the Week multiple times during her career – including the East Region Setter of the Week award 10 times as a freshman.

Her freshman season saw Russell dish 1,126 assists which was good for eighth in program history at SFCC and her 9.08 assists per set ranked seventh. Russell elevated her play and averaged 9.65 assists per set with 1,196 total as a sophomore.

Russell prepped at Mead High School where she was a two-time First Team All-Greater Spokane League selection. She was also named to the Washington 4A State All-Tournament team and led the Panthers to a second-place finish in state as a junior and senior.
Personal
She is the daughter of Shannon and Ken Russell. Her mother Shannon, formerly Horn, played volleyball at Eastern Washington in 1989 where she helped the Eagles advance to their first NCAA Tournament and win a Big Sky title. She played in all 33 matches and earned five double doubles that season. The 1989 team was recently inducted into Eastern's Hall of Fame.
