Catherine Walker was hired as EWU’s Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in January 2022 before being named the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman’s Administrator in May 2022. In her new role, Walker’s responsibilities will include oversight of internal operations including facilities, compliance, academics, sports medicine, sports performance, Title IX, policy development and management of the sport administrators’ group.
“I am grateful to Lynn Hickey for believing in me to take on this role. I am honored and excited to be an Eagle, and I can’t wait to continue to work to make our student-athlete experience at Eastern Washington the best it can be,” said Walker.
Walker brought over 15 years of collegiate compliance experience with her to Eastern Washington, and previously worked at Drake University as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
Walker earned her Bachelor’s degree in sport management from Washington State in 2003. She then moved on to Elon University where she served in a variety of compliance and academic roles from 2005 to 2007.
After her time at Elon, she accepted an Assistant Director of Compliance role at her alma mater in 2007 before serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Gonzaga from 2010 to 2013. After Gonzaga, Walker headed back to Pullman for her second stint at WSU. She spent eight years as the Assistant Director for Compliance where, among other duties, she oversaw all aspects of NCAA compliance. Walker oversaw the eligibility of 450 student-athletes across 17 Division I sports, while serving on name, image, and likeness and strategic plan committees.
Walker earned her Master’s degree in education from Campbell University in 2005 and is currently working on her EdD in higher education administration at Liberty University.
Walker resides in Medical Lake with her husband, Mike, and two children Aliscia (23) and MJ (13).
