Game Notes Week 9Cheney, Wash. - On the heels of a three game winning streak, the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team will finish off its road trip this weekend at Big Sky Conference opponents Southern Utah on Thursday, Jan. 14, and Northern Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 16. The games will tipoff-off at 6 p.m. PST and 6:30 p.m. PST, respectively.
This past weekend, the Eagles (9-6, 3-0 Big Sky) defeated an Idaho team on the road, 74-66. The Vandals are a team that defeated the Iowa State Cyclones, 97-65, earlier in the season, and stayed within five points to Duke. On Saturday, Jan. 9, Eastern kept Idaho out of their game, forcing the Vandals into 18 turnovers and keeping them away from their scoring average. Junior
Ashli Payne recorded her third double-double of the season scoring 15 points and grabbing a career high 16 rebounds.

Hayley Hodgins moved up to second on EWU's all-time scoring list with 1,473 points, passing Kathleen Nygaard, who scored 1,466 points between 2000-04.
Hayley Hodgins, averaging 19.2 points per game, still has 248 more points before she takes the throne as the Eagles' top scorer in its NCAA Division I era.
Southern Utah is currently 3-11 on the season, and 0-3 in league play.The Thunderbirds' last game was a 57-48 loss to Northern Arizona. Southern Utah averages 55.5 points per game, and grabs 41.1 rebounds per game. SUU struggles with the three ball, shooting 26.4 percent on the season. Leading SUU in scoring is junior Jessica Richardson, averaging 13.4 points per game on 44.7 percent shooting from the field. She also leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 per game.
Northern Arizona is currently 5-9 on the season, and 1-2 in league play. The Lumberjacks last played Southern Utah, winning 57-48. NAU averages 65.1 points per game on a 39.7 percent clip from the field. The Lumberjacks also own a rebounding advantage over EWU, averaging 42.6 rebounds per game. However, both opponents have problems controlling the ball with SUU averaging 19.5 turnovers per game, and Northern Arizona averaging 18.7. This matches up well to Eastern's 8.9 steals per game. Leading the Lumberjacks in scoring is true freshman Alyssa Rader, averaging 13.7 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting from the field. Rader also leads their team in rebounds, nearly averaging a double-double at 9.1 rebounds per game.
