GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Eastern Washington University volleyball team fell victim to a late rally in the third set, as North Dakota rolled off the frame's final eight points to collect a 25-23 set victory and hand the Eagles a 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 23-25) loss on Thursday (Nov. 3) night in Big Sky Conference action.
EWU had its sights on extending Thursday's match, as the Eagles held a 23-18 advantage late in the third set. The Fighting Hawks started to chip into the Eastern lead point-by-point and creeped to within two points at 23-21 to force Eastern Washington to take a timeout. "I like how we played tonight and I liked the way we competed, but too many unforced errors really hurt," said head coach Michael King. "We have to get better from the service line in order to put pressure on our opponents. If we can do that, then it will give us an opportunity to win more matches. I believe we can improve there and continue to get as a team better down the stretch."
