CHENEY, Wash. – A mid-season reschedule turned in to the biggest match of the year for the Eastern Washington University soccer team. The Eagles will host Montana this Wednesday (Oct. 30) at the EWU Soccer Field for the regular season Big Sky Conference title at 1 p.m.
The match was originally supposed to be Eastern's second conference match of the season, but it was spoiled by late-September snow and was rescheduled to this Wednesday.

The Eagles finished last weekend with a 4-1 victory over Portland State and a 1-0 loss versus Sacramento State as they now have an overall record of 9-6-2 and a Big Sky Conference record of 6-1-1.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: Eastern Washington will be playing for its second regular season title in the past three years, as they won the 2017 regular season outright and went on to clinch the tournament title as well. It will be the third regular season title in program history, as the Eagles also clinched back in 2004.

The Eagles can claim the regular season title and earn the No. 1 overall seed at the conference tournament with a win or draw. The loser of the match will earn the No. 3 seed. Eastern Washington is currently tied for first with Sacramento State in the Big Sky with 19 points while Montana is third with 18. Sacramento State has already locked in the No. 2 seed.

If Eastern wins or ties on Wednesday, they will earn the No. 1 seed and play the winner of No. 3 Montana vs. No. 6 Portland State on Friday, Nov. 8, in the semifinals at 2 p.m. Pacific time. A loss would make the Eagles a No. 3 seed and they would play No. 6 Portland State on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. PT in the quarterfinals.

Montana, the defending Big Sky Conference Tournament Champions, can only take the title with a win.
