MATCH NOTES
CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University soccer squad faces Idaho this Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. Pacific time at the EWU Soccer Field. Following a double overtime draw versus Northern Colorado last Friday, the Eagles conclude their three-match home stand as they gear up to compete against the Vandals.
Eastern postponed its home match against Montana on Sept. 29 for Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. PT at the EWU Soccer Field.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES
Eastern currently has an overall record of 3-5-2 with a Big Sky Conference record of 0-0-1. The Eagles are ranked seventh in the Big Sky with one point, in front of Idaho State who has a conference record of 0-1-1. Northern Colorado leads right in front of EWU with two points and a conference record of 0-0-2 while Weber State leads the conference with four points having a conference record of 1-0-1.
EWU has scored twelve goals this season with a rating of 1.20 goals per game. Goalkeeper
Kelsee Winston has started all ten games and has recorded 37 total saves with a .685 save percentage. She has faced 122 shots this season and recorded a shutout against Nevada.
Sariah Keister has scored five goals on the season and currently leads the Eagles with ten points. Senior
Saige Lyons and freshman
Brooke Flores trail behind Keister with four points each. Lyons has four assists and Flores has two goals, both of which were game-winners against CSU Bakersfield and South Dakota. Eastern has had seven different players score at least one goal including
Riley Walkington,
Mya Elder-Hammond,
Madison Kem,
Brooke Dunbar and
Taylor Matheny.
Lyons currently leads the Big Sky in assists with four while Flores leads the conference in game-winning goals with two. Keister is ranked second for total goals in the conference and is ranked first for total shots as she has taken 34 in the ten matches played.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT
The Idaho Vandals are 3-8-1 overall with a conference record of 0-1-1 following a loss against Montana and a double overtime draw versus Northern Colorado last week. They are coached under Jeremy Clevenger who enters his second season at the helm.
The Vandals have had six different players score at least one goal as Maddie Haas leads the squad with two goals and two assists, totaling six points. Behind her are teammates Juliana deTar and Emmy Moore who each have two goals. Goalkeeper Avrie Fox has started all twelve games recording 34 total saves and two shutouts.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Eagles have an all-time record of 11-13-1 against Idaho and are 4-3-1 under coach
Chad Bodnar at the helm.
Eastern traveled to Idaho last year to a 1-0 deficit and in 2017 to a 2-1 defeat on the road, but prior to the last two years, EWU has won their last three matches versus Idaho at home. They are 7-3 at home and 1-0 in the Big Sky Tournament versus Idaho after defeating them 1-0 in the Big Sky Championship back in 2016.
