CHENEY, Wash. – With one game under their belts, the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team continues non-conference play this Friday (Nov. 8) at San José State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Providence Credit Union Event Center in San José, Calif.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington faced an early-season challenge at No. 3 Stanford to open the season on Nov. 5, falling 92-27. Freshman Kennedy Dickie led the team with seven points and five rebounds while also adding three steals, a block and an assist.
 
The Eagles return three starters from last year's squad in sophomores Grace Kirscher and Bella Cravens and junior Brittany Klaman. Jessica McDowell-White and Leya DePriest return after logging several minutes off the bench last year along with junior Cailyn Francis.
 
Eastern Washington welcomes four true freshmen in Dicke, Jenna Dick, Gabby Jung and Alexyss Newman in addition to redshirt freshmen, Tatiana Reese, Milly Knowles, Trinity Golder and Tessa Burke.
 
Last season, the Eagles finished 13-20 overall with a 9-11 mark in conference action. After earning a No. 6 seed for the tournament, the Eagles knocked off three opponents during a magical tournament and faced Portland State in its first Big Sky Conference title game since 1988 where they unfortunately fell to the Vikings on a last-second shot.
 
A LOOK AT THE SPARTANS: The Spartans opened the season with a two-point, 79-77, loss to Big West favorite UC Irvine. They were led by Tyra Whitehead and Ayzhiana Basallo who added 21 and 20 points, respectively.
 
SJSU finished the 2018-19 season with a 6-24 overall record, including 5-13 in Mountain West play. They return four starters from that group under sixth-year head coach Jamie Craighead. The Spartans also welcome six newcomers, including two transfers in Whitehead and Basallo.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington and San José State have never met in EWU's Division I era. Against Mountain West programs, the Eagles are 36-44 all-time.
Eastern has one more MWC foe on its 2019-20 schedule in Boise State, who comes to Cheney on Dec. 15.
