Hosted by fellow Big Sky Conference member Sacramento State University, the meet takes place on May 23-25 at Hornet Stadium. To qualify for this meet, student-athletes had to be in the top-48 in the west region. Those student-athletes need to place in 12th or higher to move on to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on June 5-8.
"I am very proud of the EWU women that made it into the NCAA West Regionals," said women's head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg.
"We're going to Sacramento to advance our athletes to the National Championships." "Period," said men's head coach
Stan Kerr.
Fresh off being crowned the Big Sky long jump and triple jump champion, McGee will lead the Eagles in two events in the round, including the long and triple jump. The long jump takes place on Thursday (May 23) at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time. He will then compete again on Saturday (May 25) at 6:30 p.m. His qualifying mark in the long jump was school record 25-4 1/2 and his best triple jump was 50-11, both taking place at the Big Sky Outdoor Championship.
Coming off of being crowned the Big Sky pole vault champion, Still will be competing on Thursday (May 23) at 4:30 p.m. His qualifying mark in the pole vault is 17-6 1/2 , taking place at the Pelluer Open in Cheney, Wash.
Isaac Barville is set to compete in the 1500 meters on Thursday (May 23) at 6 p.m. He recorded his best time of 3:46.82 in that event at the Big Sky Championships two weeks ago in Missoula, Mont.
On the women's side, Doepker competes first for the Eagles on Thursday (May 23) in the javelin at noon. Her season-best throw in the event is 154-8 from the Big Sky Championship meet. She is coming off a first place finish at the championships, earning All-Big Sky Honors. She also competes in the hammer at 4 p.m. on the same day. Her qualifying mark in that event was 194-6, and she is coming off a third place finish at the championships two weeks ago.
Next up is
Samantha Raines and
Elizabeth Prouty who are both competing in the pole vault on Friday (May 24) at 5 p.m. Raines is coming off a personal-best vault of 13-4 1/2, which won that event two weeks ago at the Big Sky Championships. Prouty, who placed second at the championship right behind Raines, qualified with a vault of 13-3 1/2 at the Oregon State High Performance meet.

More comments from women's head coach Marcia Mecklenburg . . .
"
Samantha Raines, the Big Sky champion in the pole vault is going into the regional championships ranked 36th. Her teammate and runner-up at Big Sky's,
Elizabeth Prouty, is going in ranked 41st. Anything can happen in the vault. They are both coming out of Big Sky's with some great vaulting. There is no doubt in my mind they can go higher. It is going to be a fun event to watch."
"
Madison Doepker is heading to regionals in an unusual position. I believe she is the only athlete in the meet who has qualified in both the hammer and the javelin. They are two totally different events so kudos to Madi for that accomplishment. Like the vaulters, her performances at Big Sky championships were personal records or close to personal records. She has had some good practices so I think she is going to surprise some people."
"It is great to have three athletes make it into the meet. The next step is to finish in the top twelve."
