MATCH NOTES
CHENEY, Wash. – In a quick midweek matchup, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team will be heading west to take on Seattle University this Tuesday (Sept. 10) in Seattle, Wash., at 5 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington is 2-4 overall after a 1-2 weekend at the Drake Invitational. The Eagles topped Milwaukee in five sets before falling to Drake (3-0) and Saint Louis (3-1).
As a team, the Eagles lead the Big Sky Conference with 1.88 service aces per set, totaling 45 on the year through six matches. Against Saint Louis, EWU served up 16 aces which is sixth all-time in program history for aces in a four-set match and the most since Nov. 8, 2013 against Southern Utah.
Additionally, Eastern Washington boasts four players in the top-ten in the conference in service aces per set.
MaKenna Davis ranks fourth with 16 on the year (.44/set), while
Ashlyn Blotzer and
Catelyn Linke are tied for fifth with .42/set with 10 and five, respectively.
Ana Paula Zandona rounds out the team as she ranks eighth with .38/set and nine on the year.
Freshman
Nicoletta Capizzi ranks seventh in the Big Sky and leads the team with a .339 hitting percentage. She's totaled 48 kills on the year to average 2.00 per set and only has 11 errors on 109 attempts.
Ana Paula Zandona leads the team and ranks seventh in the conference with 7.75 assists per set, totaling 186 on the year.
Puaoolelagi Sao ranks sixth in the Big Sky and is the team-leader with 3.96 digs per set. She was named to the Drake Invitational All-Tournament team after totaling 62 digs and averaging 5.2 per set in three matches.
As a team, the Eagles swing .118 with an average of 10.25 kills, 1.19 blocks, 8.92 assists and 14.38 digs per set. Their opponents average 11.58 kills per set with a .221 hitting percentage.
A LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS: The Seattle U Redhawks are 4-2 overall and are coming off a weekend that saw them go 2-1 at the Holly Young Invitational in Durham, N.H. The Redhawks topped the hosts New Hampshire (3-1) and lost to Brown in five sets before beating Holy Cross in five sets to cap play.
Seattle U averages 12.3 kills per set and swing .194. Their opponents average 11.6 kills per set with a .172 hitting percentage. They also add 2.3 blocks, 14.2 digs, 1.5 aces and 11.6 assists per set.
Offensively, they are led by Eve Kerschenbaum who garners 4.17 kills per set and hits at a .226 clip. Rachel Stark averages 3.00 kills per set with .151 efficiency.
Tijana Milojevic leads the team and ranks second in the WAC with 3.64 digs per set. Julia Quieroz is second in the WAC as well with 1.17 blocks per set.
SERIES HISTORY: Tuesday marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two in-state foes, and the first since Aug. 28, 2015. The two squads faced off annually from 2010-2015.
Eastern Washington is just 2-6 all-time against the Redhawks and are looking for their first win since Sept. 2, 2013. In Seattle, Eastern is 1-1 all-time.
This is the second opponent from the WAC that the Eagles have faced this season, as they topped Cal Baptist in five sets on Aug. 31. EWU has a 7-7 overall record against WAC opponents.
UP NEXT: Eastern Washington continues non-conference play at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., this weekend. The Eagles open competition against the hosts Grand Canyon at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. The following day, Eastern Washington plays San Diego State at 10 a.m. before capping the weekend with a clash against UC Riverside at 4:30 p.m.
