CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington University women's basketball head coach
Wendy Schuller has announced the addition of four new Eagles to the 2021-22 roster on the first day of the National Signing Period (Nov. 11).
Allie Hueckman,
Jaydia Martin,
Alexis Pettis and
Andie Zylak all look to make immediate impacts for the Eagles in the fall of 2021.
"I'm really excited about this class," said head coach
Wendy Schuller, who is just two weeks away from officially starting her 20
th season at Eastern Washington. "They are great young women in the classroom and on the floor. They give us a great mix of playmakers and scorers and improve us athletically. These players have the toughness and work ethic that is so important to our culture. They are players who can help take us to the next level while really complementing the players that we have right now."

Allie Hueckman | SG | 5-10" | Burns, Ore. | Burns HS
Allie Hueckman is a multi-sport athlete out of Burns High School in Burns, Ore. The 5-10" shooting guard has earned four letters in both volleyball and basketball, as well as three in track and field.
As a freshman, she was named to the All-Eastern Oregon League (EOL) second-team in both volleyball and basketball. In track, she won a state championship in the high jump that year as well and was named the Burns High School Most Outstanding Female Athlete as a freshman.
Her sophomore season saw her be named to the All-EOL first-team in volleyball and was crowned the 2019 EOL Player of the Year in basketball. Hueckman also defended her state title in the high jump as a sophomore. She pulled in two All-State honors as a sophomore, earning Hueckman her second-consecutive Burns Hight School Most Outstanding Female Athlete award.
In 2019 as a junior, Hueckman earned another EOL Co-Player of the Year award in volleyball and basketball. She was named to the second-team at the state tournament for volleyball, and earned two more first team All-State nods in basketball as well.
In 2018-19, Hueckman helped the Hilanders win district championships in volleyball, basketball and track. The following season, she helped defend the titles in volleyball and basketball. In 2020, Hueckman and Hilanders finished third at the state basketball championships.
Hueckman currently averages 15.2 points, 2.3 assists, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. She owns the Burns High School single-game scoring record with 38 points.
SCHULLER ON HUECKMAN: "Allie is an excellent athlete and can light up the scoreboard. She's going to fit really well into our style of play."
PERSONAL: Daughter of Susie and Todd Hueckman… Is undecided on a major at Eastern Washington, but wants to work in sports after finishing her undergraduate career.
Jaydia Martin | Wing | 6-0" | Vancouver, Wash. | Hudson's Bay HS
Jaydia Martin is another in-state product joining the Eagles. She earned four letters in both basketball and volleyball at Hudson's Bay High School in Vancouver, Wash.
On the basketball court, Martin was named to the 3A Greater Saint Helens League (GSHL) first-team as both a freshman and sophomore before being named the Co-MVP as a junior. Martin also earned a spot on the All-Region second-team as a freshman and a sophomore as well before being elevated to the first-team as a junior.
Martin also earned a GSHL honorable mention nod for volleyball as a freshman, was named to the second-team as a sophomore and was crowned the league's MVP as a junior, also earning second-team All-Region honors.
Academically, she has earned several scholar athlete awards in both volleyball and basketball and has been on the honor roll all throughout high school.
Through her junior season, she has averaged around 17.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
SCHULLER ON MARTIN: "Jaydia is an incredibly versatile guard who can play multiple positions for us. She brings a lot of athleticism to the table, and we are glad to get such a talented player from our home state."
PERSONAL: Daughter of Tanya and Eugene Martin… She wants to have a career in the medical field once she is finished playing basketball.
Alexis Pettis | PG | 5-5" | Gardena, Calif. | Palisades Charter HS
Alexis Pettis is the lone California product joining the Eagles this season. Pettis hails from Gardena, Calif., where she earned two letters in basketball at Palisades Charter High School.
Pettis helped guide the Dolphins to a Division I LA-City Section Championship as both a freshman and a sophomore. Also in 2018-19 during her sophomore season, she was named to the CIF All-City Division I team.
Her junior season saw her collect numerous accolades, including a California All-State nomination, first-team All-Western League, Scorebook Live All-LA County honorable mention, All-CIF City Section Team and CIF All-City Open Division Team. She also averaged 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 steal and 5.0 assists per game.
SCHULLER ON PETTIS: "Alexis is an incredibly dedicated player who gives us additional support in the back court as a leader and a ball handler. She will bolster us on the defensive side of the ball with her quickness."
PERSONAL: Daughter of Margaret Pettis… Wants to major in exercise science at Eastern Washington with a goal of graduating in four years.
Andie Zylak | PG | 5-7" | Spokane, Wash. | Lewis and Clark HS
Andie Zylak is a local product who is currently attending Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Wash.
The 5-7" point guard has so far earned three letters in basketball and one in soccer.
As a sophomore, Zylak helped guide the Tigers to a second-place finish at the WIAA State Championships, earning an All-Greater Spokane League (GSL) honorable mention nod. As a junior last year, Zylak was named Second Team All-GSL.
Zylak has consistently improved her scoring average throughout high school, from averaging four points per game as a freshman, eight as a sophomore and 13 per game as a junior.
SCHULLER ON ZYLAK: "Andie is one of the top players in the area and brings a high level of toughness and competitiveness that will build on the culture we've established here."
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jen Clifford and Chris Zylak… Has aspirations of becoming an orthodontist.
