Golf Plays in Pizza Hut Invitational this Thursday and Friday, Mar. 12-13

EWU heads to St. George, Utah for tournament play hosted by Southern Utah

CHENEY, Wash. – Following a fourth-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational earlier this week, the Eastern Washington University golf team hits the road for the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah this Thursday and Friday (Mar. 12-13) in St. George, Utah. The tournament is held at the Sunbrook Golf Club (Pointe & Blackrock) and consists of one 18-hole round each day with an 8 a.m. Pacific time shotgun start.

There is no live scoring during the tournament but scores will be available after each round HERE.

"This will definitely be a competitive event that we're looking forward to. It will be important that we keep our composure through the entire course as there won't be much room for too many mistakes," said head coach Brenda Howe. "We're coming off a windy performance, but I am confident the ladies will handle these next conditions well. We're excited and ready to bring some energy and focus to post a strong finish in Utah."

The tournament consists of 12 schools competing including Big Sky Conference opponents Idaho State, Montana, Weber State and Southern Utah. Other teams competing in the Thunderbird Invite include California Baptist, Cal State Bakersfield, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, and South Dakota State.

LAST TIME OUT

The Eagles recently competed in the Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder City, Nev., in which they finished fourth overall and first among the conference schools. As a team, EWU shot a 931 (309, 313, 309) to beat out fifth-place Weber State by six points but were 35 strokes short of first-place South Dakota State.

Senior Madalyn Ardueser placed ninth overall as sophomore Jaelin Ishikawa scored a career-low one round total shooting a 73 in the first round.

WHAT'S NEXT

Following the Lady Thunderbird Invite, the Eagles look to compete in the Cowgirl Classic hosted by Wyoming on April 6-7 in Maricopa, Ariz.
