Ledesma earns runner-up status at Desert Classic

Eastern Washington finished its final regular-season tournament on Wednesday

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Eastern Washington women's golf traveled to Arizona for its final tune-up before the Big Sky Conference Tournament, competing in the Bobcat Desert Classic at the Golf Club of Estrella. Eastern placed ninth, posting a final score of 900 and finishing ahead of Big Sky opponents Idaho, Idaho State, and Montana.

Berkley Ledesma had an impressive tournament, earning runner-up status on the individual leaderboard after shooting -2 (214). It is Ledesma's first career top-five finish in her Eagle career. The sophomore closed strong, shooting 70 (-2) in the final round today. She posted back-to-back 72s in the first two rounds in Goodyear. 

Ledesma shared the number two spot with Utah Tech's Samantha Phelan. 

Spencer Cerenzia placed 23rd with a total score of +7 (223), her lowest 54-hole score as an Eagle. This finish also marked Cerenzia's best tournament finish of her career. The sophomore's third-round 68 was the lowest 18-hole score of her career. 

Seattle U finished (+9) to claim the team title. Wyoming had the solo title winner, Kylie Reisner, who shot a 211 (-5).

Eastern has a break before returning to Arizona to play in the Big Sky Conference Championships. The Big Sky Conference Championships will take place at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Arizona, from April 20th (Monday) through April 22nd (Wednesday).
