Eagles Jump to Jackrabbit Invitational, March 9-10

EWU travels to Boulder City, Nev. for tournament play hosted by South Dakota State

CHENEY, Wash. – With just the second tournament of the 2020 spring schedule approaching, the Eastern Washington University women's golf team gets ready for the Jackrabbit Invitational next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 9-10) in Boulder City, Nev., with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Pacific time. The tournament is hosted by South Dakota State at the Boulder Creek Golf Club and consists of two rounds on the first day and a final round on the second.

"We're looking for a strong showing next week. It's an opportunity to see some new teams on a familiar course," said head coach Brenda Howe. "All but one player has been on this course many times in the past few years, and we've had some record rounds there. It'll be important to stay focused, as the winds tend to be factor at this course."

The tournament consists of 14 schools participating, including Big Sky Conference foe Idaho State. Other teams competing include South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, Loyola Chicago, UNLV, Toledo, Ball State, Creighton, Boston College, CSUN, Omaha and North Dakota.

EWU's lineup for the tournament includes seniors Madalyn Ardueser and Megan Ohland, junior Alexa Clark, sophomore Jaelin Ishikawa and freshman Stephanie Heimler.

LAST TIME OUT

EWU recently traveled to Phoenix, Ariz., to compete in the Grand Canyon Invitational in which they tied with Southern Utah for eighth place out of 14 teams. The Eagles placed ahead of conference opponents Northern Arizona and Montana State after shooting 603 (301, 302) strokes. Portland State beat out Eastern Washington by nine strokes, finishing in third-place.

Madalyn Ardueser tied for sixth after shooting a 144 (71, 73) while Stephanie Heimler tied for 27th after shooting a 151 (76, 75). Alexa Clark shot a 153 to tie for 36th while Morgan Baum shot a 159 (78, 81) and Megan Ohland shot a 160 (83, 77) to round out the squad.

Jaelin Ishikawa competed in individual play and shot a 156 (79, 77) to tie for 53rd.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Eagles continue tournament play March 12-13 at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah in St. George, Utah at the Sunbrook Golf Club.
