Golf Gears Up for the Griz Challenge

EWU competes in Missoula, Mont., at the Missoula Country Club, Oct. 5-6

CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University golf team gears up for the Griz Challenge hosted by Montana in Missoula, Mont., on Oct. 5-6.

The tournament begins Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Pacific time and continues the same time on Wednesday at the Missoula Country Club. The event consists of four teams including Big Sky Conference foes Montana, Montana State and Idaho State. There will be no live scoring for the event, but results after each day of competition will be available on GoEags.com.

"This is now going to be a stroke play event rather than a match play one. It'll be a good warm up before our biggest event of the fall," said head coach Brenda Howe. "We really need to work on our consistency and get those scores lower than they have been."

Last Time Out

EWU recently competed at the Battle at Old Works where they placed third out of four teams shooting 948 strokes, with a third place overall individual finish by Jaelin Ishikawa after shooting 233 strokes in three rounds.

Additionally, Morgan Baum shot one stroke behind Ishikawa at 234 strokes and finished tied for fourth place. The squad landed 24 strokes ahead of fourth place Idaho State (971).

Up Next

EWU's next competition is the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational hosted by Seattle on Oct. 11-12 at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash. The tournament will conclude the fall portion of the schedule for the Eagles.
