"This week we were really working on setting other people up and moving the ball until we can get a great shot, and not settling for the first shot that we defended. That was something that we did really well and we've been trying to drive home," said head coach
Joddie Gleason. "We've been settling a little bit in our previous games, especially against tough defenses, so that's our takeaway. We executed our motion, got movement, and set others up and that was evident with our 23 assists."
Â
Eastern Washington made five three-pointers in the first quarter, two of which came from freshman
Alexis Pettis. The Eagles shot 47.6 percent from the field, while holding the Lions to 26.7 percent, and ended the quarter on a 13-0 run to pull ahead 27-10 at the end of the first quarter.

"Tonight was a great opportunity to play different players and reward them. They work just as hard in practice as those who get minutes, we love to be able to have the opportunity to get everybody in and let them showcase their stuff. It was great to see everyone contribute off of the bench," added Gleason. "We're banged up a little bit, so our team stepped up and that helps with confidence and helps us prepare for the next game."
