A LOOK AT THE EAGLES:
The Eagles currently sit with an overall record of 1-5 with the lone win produced from a 5-0 shutout home match versus CSU Bakersfield back on Sept. 5. A match in which eight women found themselves on the stat sheet with at least one point, with senior
Sariah Keister standing out the most with two goals.
The Eagles are currently returning to match play following a 4-0 deficit in a neutral spot against Arkansas last Friday (Sept. 10).
The EWU squad leads the Big Sky Conference in saves with a total of 54 across six competitions, with one shutout under their belt. Furthermore, they are ahead of Idaho State (0-7-1) and Northern Arizona (0-7), and tied with Southern Utah (1-5) in the conference standings.
Knowing Your Opponent: St. Thomas
St. Thomas is led by head coach Sheila McGill who enters her 15th season at the helm of the Tommies, in which she has held an 82-17-11 overall record in the past five seasons. In the 2021 shortened spring season, the Tommies went undefeated at 5-0, collecting 16 total goals and allowing zero throughout all five competitions.
The Tommies are currently 2-3-1 overall and are returning from a 3-0 loss to Marquette. They will face EWU and Idaho before beginning their 2021 fall Summit League campaign.
Additionally, the match will mark the first time in EWU history these programs have competed against one another.
Knowing Your Opponent: Texas Tech
Texas Tech is led by head coach Tom Stone who enters his 15th season at the helm of the Red Raiders program, and returns after appearing in the program's sixth NCAA Tournament performance following a winning 15-4-3 season in 2019. Last spring, in an abnormal 2021 schedule, the Red Raiders went 5-6-2 overall, collecting a 2-5-2 Big 12 Conference record.
Texas Tech is currently 6-1-1 overall this season as the squad returns from a 3-2 deficit to Arizona State last Sunday (Sept. 12). Senior forward Kirsten Davis leads the Red Raiders with seven goals and four assists and has scored one goal in her last three matches.
Additionally, the match will also serve as the first time in program history these squads have clashed against one another.
What's Next: Following the home and away split, the Eagles begin Big Sky Conference play on the road facing Idaho state on Sept. 24 in Pocatello, Idaho at 6 p.m. Pacific time.
