CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's soccer team travels to a neutral spot to take on Arkansas on Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. Pacific time in San Antonio, Texas. The match will mark the first time in program history these schools have clashed against one another as the Eagles hold a 1-4 overall record while the Razorbacks have a 2-2 overall record.

A Look at the Eagles
The Eagles have an overall record of 1-4-0 and collected their first win of the season last weekend hosting CSU Bakersfield to a 5-0 shutout.
With two back-to-back goals from senior
Sariah Keister and one from junior
Mya Elder-Hammond in the first half, in addition to one from senior
Taylor Matheny and one from freshman
Anessa Campos in the second, the Eagles earned a much-needed victory at home.
EWU goalkeeper
Kelsee Winston recorded five saves, including several diving stops, before freshman
Kiara Matson finished the match with two saves of her own, solidifying the first shutout of the year. Moreover, both goalkeepers tallied one assist during the match, along with
Brittany Delridge and
Brooke Flores.
Head coach
Missy Strasburg also collected her first victory at the helm, securing her squad in several spots in the record book including tying second for largest margin of victory in school history, tying third for most goals scored in a single match, tying fourth for most assists in a single match and tying fourth for most points scored in a single match.
Following the home victory, Keister was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week, the first of her career, in a match where she completely controlled the center attacking mid role and was a key ingredient in the success of the EWU squad.
Knowing Your Opponent
The Razorbacks are led by head coach Colby Hale who enters his 10
th season at the helm of the Arkansas women's soccer program. After the 2020 season, Hale led his squad to their second-straight SEC regular season title, climbing to a season-high No.3 ranking in the fall polls.
Following the 2020 campaign, Hale won SEC Co-Coach of the year, while junior forward Anna Podojil became the first SEC Forward of the Year and the first First-Team All-American selection in Razorback history. Podojil currently has three goals under her belt this season after scoring two against BYU and one against Stephan F. Austin, respectively.
Furthermore, the Razorbacks hold a 2-2-0 overall record with a two-match winning streak.

Following the away match, the Eagles host their final non-conference home match on Sept. 16 against St. Thomas at the EWU Soccer Field at 3 p.m. PT. The match will be live streamed on

To conclude non-conference play, EWU will travel back down south to compete against Texas Tech on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. PT at the John Walker Soccer Complex in Lubbock, Texas.
