Eastern Washington Women's soccer had a tough match on the road against Northern Colorado, but came back and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
"While we are always working for wins, ultimately, it was an important road point for us to take away from tonight's match against a perennial top Big Sky team," head coach Missy Strasburg said. "While we created a lot of quality chances late that we just didn't finish, as a staff;Â we are incredibly pleased with the grit and commitment level of our team tonight. We were also pleased with the immediate response to Northern Colorado's goal, with an answer from Maddie Morgan to bring us back to level. Now our attention turns to Montana on Sunday, a vital match from both the standings and rivalry perspectives."
For the Eagles tonight, Grace Terrill had the first shot on goal from a corner kick by Elisabeth Cole in the 2nd minute. Terrill missed just to the top right of the net to put the Eagles up over the Bears. Near the end of the match, on a corner kick, Terrill had a header that missed on the top of the cross bar. Morgan was there at the last minute to score for Eastern.
With Morgan scoring Eastern's only goal of the night, that brings her to three goals on the season, with three assists and nine total points. Morgan leads the Eagles in total points.
Gillian Martin and Morgan had three total shots in the match, with Terrill right behind them with two shots and one on goal.Â
Northern Colorado almost had a chance to put themselves on top of the Eagles, but with an offsides call, the goal was nullified. But in the 71st minute, Malina Faris scored the Bears first and only goal of the night. Faris led the team in shots tonight, with five and two on goal. Kalen Nieding and Alex Michael had two shots on goal as well for the Bears.Â
Eastern Washington's record now sits at 2-0-1 in the conference and 5-5-3 overall. Northern Colorado is 0-2-1 in the Big Sky and 4-6-3 overall.Â
