Brustad, Gunderson earn second team All-Big Sky

Eastern Washington had two representatives on the postseason award list

FARMINGTON, Utah — For the second-straight season, Eastern Washington volleyball places two players on the All-Conference team. Senior outside hitter Sage Brustad and junior middle blocker Bri Gunderson both earned second team All-Conference selections, announced by the Big Sky today. Brustad earns her second All-Conference selection, while Gunderson earns the honor in her first season in Cheney.

This season, Brustad led Eastern and ranked seventh in the conference with a 3.37 kills per set averaging, totaling 334 total. Brustad has 1066 total attacks and a .155 hitting percentage. From the service line, Brustad leads the team with 43 aces, averaging 0.42 per set. She ranks second in the Big Sky in both categories. 

Brustad has been the consummate two-way player, averaging 2.64 digs per set and ranking second on the team. She adds 46.0 total blocks - 0.45 per set - good for fifth on the team. Contributing across the board, Brustad averages 4.05 points per set to land at fifth on the conference leaderboard. To this point, Brustad has 13 double-doubles this season, including a 26 kill, 20 dig game against Gonzaga (9/16). The award marks Brustad's second-straight second team selection, after earning the honor for the 2022 season.

Since arriving at Eastern, Gunderson made an instant impact for the Eagles. Gunderson's 1.17 blocks per set ranks second in the Big Sky and leads the team. She has 26 solo and 92 block assists to her name this season. Adding to her ability, Gunderson is highly efficient on offense, leading the team and ranking sixth in the conference with a .304 attack percentage. Her 2.13 kills per set ranks third for the Eagles. 

Gunderson has only improved into Big Sky play, averaging 1.32 blocks per set, 2.23 kills per set and holds a .311 attack percentage. Additionally, Gunderson has 10 aces this season. Gunderson recorded nine total blocks against Sacramento State (10/7), adding nine kills in the game. She had a season-high 14 kills in the team's final regular season game against Idaho.

Eastern Washington is the No. 7 seed in the Big Sky Tournament and will face the No. 2 seed, Northern Colorado, on Wednesday (Nov. 22) at 6 p.m. Pacific Time from Greeley, Colo.
