CHENEY, Wash. — The Eastern Washington Eagles scored early and often in their Wednesday night home tune-up against Portland Bible College, winning 103-34.
Cedric Coward led all scorers with his third career double-double, posting 25 points and 10 rebounds. Five Eags reached double figures as EWU improved to 3-6 on the season.
The Eagles never trailed, jumping out to an early 14-2 lead they never relinquished, leading 49-16 at half. It was the second-ever contest for the Eagles against Portland Bible; they won 107-25 on Nov. 5, 2019 for the largest margin of victory in program history.
Elsewhere on the stat sheet, junior forward Dane Erikstrup posted a career-high 5 blocks, adding 17 points. Freshman Vice Zanki scored 9 and picked up a career-best 6 assists. The Eagles shot 61% from the floor (42-69).
The game was a short respite from Eastern's grueling non-conference schedule, which includes just three home games; Wednesday's game was the second and last home game before conference play begins on Dec. 28 against Portland State. Seven of the Eagles' first eight games were on the road, with six of those against Power 5 programs, with their win coming at Air Force on Dec. 9.
The Eagles will head back on the road next week, playing at Cal Poly on Monday, Dec. 18 before a trip to Seattle to face Washington on Dec. 21.
Season tickets for EWU men's and women's basketball are now available and start as low as $100! Tickets for basketball and all EWU Athletics events are available at goeags.com/tickets or via the EWU Athletics Ticket Office at 509-359-6059.
