Ready to compete, the Eastern Washington University track and field team is back in action at three different locations this weekend (Feb. 10- Feb. 11). Student-athletes will represent Eastern at the Husky Classic, Don Kirby Invitational and the Whitworth Invitational.
For the Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washington, eight distance runners will travel to Seattle, Wash. The meet will start at 2:45 p.m. Pacific Time Friday, Feb 10 with the women's 3000m, followed by the men's 3000m at 4:10 p.m
.
In Albuquerque, N.M., throwers, jumpers and sprinters will compete at the Don Kirby Invitational. The meet will begin early at 10:00 a.m., Friday, for the field events and at 1:30 p.m. for the track events. The invitational will pick back up again on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. for the field events and 9:30 a.m. for track .
The team will also make their way to The Podium for the Whitworth Invitational in Spokane, Wash. The meet will kick off at 1:45 p.m. Friday for the men's heptathlon. On Saturday, the competition will start again at 12:00 p.m. for the men's heptathlon, 9:00 a.m. for the field events and 9:00 a.m. for the running events.
At the Washington State Open last week (Feb. 2- Feb. 4), Eastern wrapped up the meet with success. The Eagles had several winners, placers and new personal records that were set. A total of 49 student-athletes achieved season-best marks. Senior
Hally Ruff set a new personal best in the pole vault (4.06m) and moved to first on the Big Sky leaderboard. Sophomore
Noah Hasselblad placed second in the 3,000m and clocked ninth in EWU history (8:24.08).
After the three meets this weekend, the Eagles will look forward to the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Feb. 23 through Feb 24 in Moscow, Idaho.
