Eags open 2023 spring football schedule on Friday

EWU to hit the red turf at Roos Field for first of 13 practices

CHENEY, Wash. — The Eastern Washington football team will hit the red turf at Roos Field for the first time this year on Friday, marking the start of a 13-practice spring schedule that will culminate with the annual intrasquad Red-White Game on Friday, April 28.

As many as 42 returning 2022 letter winners will compete in Cheney as the Eagles are expected to return up to six starters on offense and eight on defense from last season.

Head coach Aaron Best heads into his seventh year at the helm with a 44-25 career record and three NCAA FBS Playoff appearances, including a trip to the championship game in 2018. The team announced in February the hiring of four new assistant coaches ready to make their EWU debuts this spring: Eric Sanders (linebackers), Jeff McDaniels (wide receivers), Hayden Mace (offensive line) and Brandon Johnson-Farrell (running backs).

The Red-White Game at Roos Field will be free and open to the public.
