GREELEY, Colo. — Eastern Washington University's Carissa Stovall earned silver in the women's shot put at the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Greeley, Colo. on Friday, May 12, throwing an outdoor personal best 14.41 meters (47' 3.5").

Stovall, a junior from Yelm, Wash., finished behind only Mia Sylvester of Idaho, who threw 15.43 meters in blustery conditions. Stovall is the eighth Eagle to earn all-conference honors in the event (top-3 finish), most recently joined by Paris Flenoy in 2019, who also finished second. No Eagle has ever won the Big Sky title.

Stovall's previous outdoor best came just weeks ago at the Desert Heat Classic at the University of Arizona on April 29 (14.32m). Her mark on Friday moves her up one spot to 6th on EWU's all-time outdoor performance list.

She also earned silver at the Big Sky's 2023 indoor championship in Moscow, Idaho, securing a career-best mark of 14.78 meters (48' 6").

Stovall joins Cody Teevens (decathlon; bronze) as Eagles to earn medals this week as the majority of events finish up on Saturday, including the men's and women's pole vault and men's triple jump, in which EWU secured medals at the indoor championships.
