CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Erin Tucker announced the addition of DeMarcus Stid to the Eagles' coaching staff as Assistant Coach for Throws.

Stid comes to Cheney with 10 years of coaching experience and a proven record of developing throwers across the shot put, discus, hammer/weight throw and javelin. Throughout his career, Stid has directly coached nearly 70 All-America honors while contributing to programs that have produced more than 300 All-America honors and multiple national champions.

"The better your team gets, the more in demand your staff gets," Tucker said. "We have had two head coaches and one associate head coach come from this staff in the last three years. I am proud of all three of them and look forward to seeing them shine in their futures.

"We have to keep pushing and moving forward, and DeMarcus was impressive from the first call. I am happy he accepted the opportunity to coach our awesome throwers. What you have to love about junior college coaches is they have two years to get their athletes to the Division I level, and he has done an amazing job at that.

"Our throwers are getting one of the best young coaches in the nation, and I am excited to watch him work with this group. The throwers are a very important piece to the puzzle, and we have always had a tradition of great throwers at EWU. We will continue that tradition with DeMarcus. Go Eags!"

Stid most recently served as Assistant Coach for Throws and Strength & Conditioning at Iowa Western, joining the program in October 2022. During his tenure, Stid helped develop national champions in the women's discus, men's indoor shot put and women's hammer. He also coached conference champions across the throwing events and helped athletes establish 11 school records.

Prior to Iowa Western, Stid spent the 2021-22 season at McPherson College, where he was named the 2022 KCAC Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. He helped guide seven national qualifiers, four All-Americans and multiple conference champions while his athletes established five school records.

Stid previously coached at Frostburg State University from 2019 to 2021, helping develop two NCAA Division II East Region qualifiers and four conference champions.

Stid earned his Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Recreation from Indiana Institute of Technology in 2019.
