Volleyball - at Big Sky Conference Tournament vs. No. 4 Weber State (Wednesday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time)
Eastern is gearing up for the Big Sky Conference Tournament, hosted by Sacramento State on Wednesday, Nov. 27-29. The Eagles enter as the fifth seed and will take the fourth seed in Weber State on Wednesday Nov. 27 at 10 a.m., in Sacramento.
The last time the Eagles faced off against the Wildcats, EWU won 3-1 in Cheney back in October. Historically, the Eagles are 45-41 all-time.
For the third consecutive season, Eastern Washington volleyball earned multiple All-Conference honors, with two players named to the Big Sky All-Conference Team. Bri Gunderson, a redshirt junior middle blocker, was selected to the First Team, while sophomore outside hitter Kalista Lukovich earned Second Team honors, as announced by the Big Sky Conference today. Additionally, Quincy Moran was named Big Sky Conference Outstanding Freshman of the Year.
This marks Gunderson's second All-Conference selection and Eastern's first, First Team nod since 2015. Lukovich and Moran both received their first All-Conference honors. Moran is only the fifth player in Eastern Washington history—and the first since 2005—to be named Outstanding Freshman of the Year.
Men's Basketball – at UC Santa Barbara (Tuseday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time), at Utah (Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time)
After back-to-back losses to Washington State and Cal Baptist, the Eastern Eagles are looking to bounce back. Strong individual performances from Nic McClain, who posted 24 points and seven rebounds in both games, and Andrew Cook, who added 32 points total, were highlights in the losses. While the losses were disappointing, they provided valuable lessons as the Eagles aim to tighten up their game moving forward.
The Eagles' next test comes on Tuesday, Nov. 26, when they face UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. Historically, Eastern has a 3-3 record against the UCSB, with the last meeting taking place in 2007. UCSB will be a tough challenge, as they're a consistent contender in the Big West. On Saturday, Nov. 30, Eastern will take on Utah at 2 p.m. in Salt Lake City. The Eagles are 0-2 all-time against the Utes, with the most recent matchup in 2023.
Looking ahead, Eastern's focus will be on improving team cohesion, refining their defense, and cutting down on turnovers. McClain and Cook's scoring ability gives the Eagles a strong foundation, but the team's success will depend on executing as a unit. The upcoming games are critical opportunities for the Eagles to prove themselves and set the tone for the rest of the season.
